The Senior Software Engineer will design backend services, improve data pipelines, and enhance reporting infrastructure while mentoring other engineers. This role supports capital partners by ensuring accurate data flow through Upstart's platform.

As a Software Engineer II, you'll design and build backend services for a unified communications platform, collaborate with multiple teams, and manage medium-sized projects independently.

Support capital markets legal and business teams on ABS, warehouse financings, and fund matters. Organize closings, coordinate internal and external parties, draft basic documents and entity formation papers, and manage transaction compliance including covenant tracking and UCC filings/renewals.

Build and lead Upstart Bank's Product Quality program to evaluate lending products and servicing. Design quality methodologies, sampling, defect taxonomies, and governance. Analyze findings to identify systemic issues, drive remediation with Product/Engineering/Compliance, maintain examination-ready documentation, represent in audits and regulatory exams, and hire and mentor a team of quality analysts.

Lead the SDL and Cash Line ML teams, developing innovative machine learning models to improve lending solutions and expand credit access. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive product strategy and enhance model performance, while mentoring a team of ML scientists.

Lead and operate Upstart's secured lending quality control program across origination, servicing, and collections. Oversee sampling methodology, QC Engine product ownership, defect analysis, remediation, regulatory exam preparedness, third-party oversight, and executive reporting to scale a data-driven, examination-ready quality function.

Lead second-line technology and information security risk oversight for Upstart Bank. Establish and run the bank's 2LOD technology risk framework, assess cybersecurity and cloud risks, oversee FFIEC CAT and related assessments, engage regulators and auditors, produce risk reporting for committees and the board, and manage a small Technology Risk team while partnering with IT, cybersecurity, TPRM, ERM, Legal, and Compliance.

Lead the Capital Implementation team to onboard new lenders, manage loan origination and sales, design scalable systems for business efficiency, and collaborate with various stakeholders for accurate financial data access.

As a Principal Product Analyst, you will lead product analytics for unsecured installment products, executing high-impact analyses, optimizing user journeys, and collaborating cross-functionally to drive data-informed product strategies.
