Every week, we handpick the top tech events happening right here in Boston. Over the next seven days, you’ll want to leave your couch and attend the following networking soirees, tech talks and more. Your career will thank you.

August Tech Talks & Social Night, Aug. 20 at 6 p.m.

Are you a woman who loves coding and meeting other tech-savvy ladies? Then head over to this fun networking and socializing event hosted by Women Who Code. There will be time for serious tech talk, as well as light-hearted conversation with other women in the Boston tech scene.

Scalable Pipelines and Email Health at HubSpot, Aug. 22 at 6 p.m.

“Email health” might not sound like the sexiest tech topic, but it’s one worth knowing about if you're in the field of marketing tech. Lucky for you, Mukul Surajiwale, a software engineer on the machine learning models team at HubSpot, is giving a talk focused on HubSpot’s efforts in reducing email abuse through the appropriate use of machine learning.

MinneBOS: Field Guide to Data Science & Emerging Tech, Aug. 23 at 8 a.m.

If you love data and analytics, this is the event for you. MinneAnalytics, the country’s largest community-based analytics group, is hosting a free, all-day event in Boston where you can attend sessions on the hottest trends in data science — think AI, machine learning and much, much more.

eSports PopUp, Aug. 24 at 12 p.m.

If you’re interested in what the future of VR might look like, this is a great way to spend your Friday. Head over to MindTrek VR, a 6,000-square-foot arena in Woburn for a gaming event centered around eSports. There will be an open bar, as well as video games both old and new. Think of it as a “gamer’s paradise,” if you will.

Present Yourself: Craft Your First Talk and Deliver with Confidence, Aug. 25 at 10 a.m.

If you get nervous speaking in front of a group, you’re not alone. The popular empowerment group Women Talk Design addresses this issue in a workshop in which they will provide new speakers (women and non-binary people) with helpful frameworks to craft what might be their first speeches ever. You’ll hopefully leave with newfound confidence — and maybe some new friends, too.
