About the role

As Statistics Engineer at Eppo, you will be at the forefront of defining what the future of experimentation and causal inference looks like. In this role, you will combine:

  • Subject-matter expertise in statistics, experimentation, and causal inference that helps Eppo build state-of-the-art methodology

  • Software engineering know-how that brings innovation to production. You will be an integral part of the engineering team: you do not want to hand-off your research, but rather collaborate with the team to bring your proposals to life

  • Keen product instinct. This role is all about making a difference for practitioners. You understand their problems, are excited to solve them, and build tools that empower a wide-variety of users, not just the experts

Your background

At a high level, we are looking for one of two backgrounds:

  1. A statistician* who loves to code

  2. An engineer who loves statistics

*Understood broadly. Your specific background may be in data science, in machine learning, in a quantitative social science such as economics, or any other field that uses statistics at its core.

In addition, we are looking for someone who has 5+ years of experience utilizing this skillset in a data, SaaS, or similar technology company.

Concretely, we are looking for this combination of attributes and skills:

  • Attributes

    • Ownership mindset: you are comfortable making choices in ambiguous situations, and think of the team's success and failure as your own

    • Builder: It isn't enough for you to research a topic, you want to implement it. Your joy comes from seeing an idea come alive, not writing a doc about it

    • Constant learner: You are always learning new techniques, and are unafraid to learn about tools and problems that don’t traditionally fit in your profile

  • Skills

    • Able to implement probabilistic techniques into a reusable statistical libraries, including bootstrapping, statistical tests, and ML models / regressions

    • Can build data engineering pipelines to gather the necessary data inputs (sufficient statistics) for statistical techniques

    • Can architect APIs that enable other engineers to incorporate statistical techniques in front-end interfaces

At Eppo, we are committed to creating an equitable and inclusive workplace, offering competitive compensation, and fostering a culture that encourages entrepreneurship and growth. The estimated salary range for this position is $220,000-$265,000, depending on experience.
