Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, one of the world’s leading global law firms with offices in strategic hubs of commerce, law, and government across North America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, is seeking to hire a Manager, Firm Human Resources (HR) will report to the Senior Director, Firm Human Resources.

The Manager is responsible for HR management and planning of lawyer evaluation processes and lawyer HR initiatives firmwide. This position is accountable for working closely with HRBPs and HR/Legal Talent Leadership promoting service level quality and consistency across all lawyer populations for related processes and initiatives. Responsibilities include facilitating the overall planning and management of HR activities for lawyer populations firmwide. In addition, this role will work closely with the HR Centers of Excellence, HR and Firm leadership. This position will align with the Centers of Excellence to ensure HR projects, processes and programs are efficient, implemented, and consistent with firm standards and goals for the lawyer population. This position may also manage other firm processes as identified by Firm and HR leadership.

This position will reside in the Philadelphia, Boston or Washington offices with a hybrid in-office/remote working schedule.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Participates in the development of Firm HR strategies and identifies organizational opportunities.

  • Supports Practice Group HR Business Partners (PG HRBPs), HR, and internal stakeholders with non-partner lawyer evaluation and talent processes.

  • Leads the administration of complex lawyer processes, including annual and mid-year evaluations, promotion processes, and Senior Talent initiatives.

  • Manages evaluation workflows, communications, reporting, databases, and related systems in partnership with HR Operations and IT.

  • Collaborates with HR, Legal Talent Leadership, Office of the Chair, Firm Leadership, Centers of Excellence, and internal stakeholders on lawyer-related processes and initiatives.

  • Prepares, analyzes, and interprets lawyer data and reports; provides insights, summarizes findings, and recommends appropriate actions.

  • Identifies opportunities to improve and streamline HR processes, systems, and operational practices; serves as a change agent for operational excellence.

  • Manages lawyer data requests and ensures HR systems and records are maintained accurately and timely.

  • Develops and maintains user documentation, training materials, communication plans, and process resources as needed.

  • Leads and participates in HR meetings, projects, and firmwide initiatives; ensures timely completion and follow-up of action items.

  • Supports Firm HR policies, programs, and management principles and promotes their consistent application across the Firm.

  • Provides strategic problem-solving and supports additional HR projects at the direction of Firm management and HR leadership.

  • Leads and develops staff by establishing priorities, balancing workloads, providing coaching and feedback, and recognizing performance and accomplishments.

  • Performs additional responsibilities as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, combined with a minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible human resources leadership experience, preferably with at least five (5) years in a medium to large sized organization, law firm and/or professional services environment. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.

  • Confident manner and the ability to establish credibility quickly.

  • Ability to work comfortably in a matrix organization.

For positions in Boston, MA and Washington, DC, the salary range for this job posting is: $114,200.00 - $182,750.00.
