Your Mission:

  • Implement best practices for personalized outreach via email, LinkedIn, and cold calling
  • Monitor performance metrics and provide actionable feedback for continuous improvement
  • Refine messaging to engage eCommerce decision-makers (Heads of Digital, CTOs, etc.)
  • Develop outbound prospecting playbooks tailored to commercetools’ ICP
  • Leverage intent data, AI tools, and sales engagement platforms (Outreach, 6Sense) to enhance prospecting efficiency
  • Align with Marketing on campaign strategy, messaging, and lead qualification
  • Own pipeline generation targets, ensuring BDR-sourced meetings contribute to revenue goals
  • Track and analyze key KPIs: SQL conversion rates, email engagement, call effectiveness, and pipeline attribution
  • Collaborate with RevOps to ensure CRM (Salesforce) data is accurate and optimized for reporting
  • Work closely with Account Executives (AEs) to ensure smooth lead handoff and pipeline progression
  • Provide feedback to Marketing and Product teams on market trends, customer pain points, and competitive insights
  • Partner with Sales Enablement to continuously enhance BDR onboarding and skill development programs

What you need to succeed:

  • Ample experience in SaaS B2B sales development (preferably in eCommerce, headless commerce, or composable commerce)
  • Current or previous experience in a leadership role, managing or mentoring BDRs/SDRs
  • Strong understanding of the eCommerce ecosystem (marketplaces, digital experience platforms, ERP, OMS, etc.)
  • Experience with outbound sales strategies and enterprise prospecting
  • Proficiency in Salesforce, Outreach, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, and intent data tools
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and strategic thinking skills
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze metrics and optimize performance

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
