Job DescriptionTimeframe: June 1 – August 21, 2026 and able to work in-office, 5 days/week.
THE ROLE
We're looking for a Wearable Acoustics and Audio Systems Intern to join the Audio Technology team and contribute to the design and evaluation of products in the Bose Audio Tech and Licensing group. In this role, the intern will:
- Conduct system-level acoustic measurements for frequency response, distortion, noise cancellation performance, system noise floor, voice pickup performance, and other important audio metrics.
- Contribute to the development of internal data collection & design tools, standards, and procedures to improve efficiency within the group.
- Prepare documentation and reports summarizing test procedures, results, and design recommendations.
- Learn and assist with audio system tuning, including transducer EQs, crossovers, limiting, and subjective listening. Contribute to algorithm development, including prototyping and evaluation of DSP algorithms for audio enhancement or calibration.
- Work with cross-functional teams including DSP, controls engineering, software, and product teams to debug and optimize system performance.
- Prepare documentation and reports summarizing test procedures, results, and design recommendations.
REQUIREMENTS
To be successful in this role, you should be/have:
- Has completed at least 2 years in an accredited, undergraduate program in Acoustical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Audio Engineering. Other programs may be acceptable based on demonstrated interest/skill/background
- Demonstrated experience with MATLAB, Fundamentals of Acoustics, and Fundamentals of Audio
- Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks from one or more projects.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Understanding of DSP fundamentals, previous experience in product development.
- Exposure to wearable or headphone products, especially those utilizing ANC.
- Experience with audio test systems (e.g., Audio Precision, GRAS, B&K). Familiarity with embedded systems or real-time audio signal flow.
