Title: ABF Transaction Management & Controls

Corporate Title: Senior Associate

Department: Asset Based Finance

Location: Charlotte, NC, Boston, MA, or New York, NY

Job Summary

Barings is seeking a highly organized and execution‑focused professional to support the Asset‑Backed Finance (ABF) platform in a Transaction Management & Controls role. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the day‑to‑day operational execution, discipline, and consistency of the ABF platform by supporting transaction execution, maintaining clear processes and controls, and assisting with platform governance activities.

The role sits at the intersection of investment, operations, and internal business partners and provides hands‑on support across public and private asset‑backed strategies, including residential, consumer, and commercial asset finance.

This role does not involve underwriting, portfolio management, or trading decisions, but instead owns the operational execution, coordination, and control environment that enables the ABF platform to transact efficiently and scale responsibly. The individual will be responsible for the “blocking and tackling” required to help new deals close efficiently while supporting a controlled, scalable operating environment.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Transaction Support & Deal Execution
    • Drive operational execution for new ABF transactions from approval through close
    • Manage transaction checklists, timelines, and deliverables across internal teams (legal, compliance, operations, finance, tax, technology) and external parties (counsel, counterparties, servicers, trustees, custodians)
    • Track open items, dependencies, and execution risks; proactively escalate issues and help drive resolutions
    • Support transaction documentation, data setup, and system onboarding to ensure operational readiness at close
    • Act as a key execution partner to the investment team, allowing deal professionals to focus on structuring and investment decisions
  • Platform Operations & Controls Support
    • Support first-line ownership of ABF operating policies, procedures, and controls, in alignment with firm-wide standards and regulatory expectations
    • Support monitoring of adherence to documented processes and controls; help identify gaps or improvement opportunities
    • Assist with internal reviews, audits, and information requests related to ABF activities
  • Process Documentation & Continuous Improvement
    • Help document end‑to‑end ABF processes, including origination, due diligence, approvals, execution, settlement, and ongoing monitoring
    • Translate “how work actually happens” into clear, practical, and auditable process documentation
    • Ensure processes are not only documented, but embedded into day‑to‑day execution and adopted by stakeholders
    • Support process mapping and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, consistency, and scalability
  • Cross‑Functional Coordination & Platform Support
    • Serve as a point of coordination across multiple operational workstreams, including data management, reporting, servicing oversight, and vendor relationships
    • Partner with technology and data teams to support system usage, workflows, and process alignment
    • Assist with onboarding new asset types, counterparties, vendors, and servicing arrangements by supporting operational setup and documentation
  • Reporting & Communication
    • Support preparation of internal updates on transaction status, operational metrics, and platform initiatives
    • Maintain organized records and materials to support effective communication with internal stakeholders and leadership

Qualifications

  • 4-6 years of experience serving as a primary coordinator or execution lead for complex workflows or transactions
  • Experience supporting process mapping, swimlane diagrams, or operational workflows to improve clarity, consistency, or control across teams
  • Exposure to structured finance, securitizations, whole loan financings, or private credit transactions preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Comfort working cross functionally with investment, legal, compliance, and operations teams
  • Ability to document processes clearly and follow established procedures
  •  Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools; experience with deal tracking systems or workflow tools a plus
  • Strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and a proactive, team oriented mindset
