The role

As VP, Payer Sales, you will be responsible for driving new business and expanding relationships with payer organizations, including national and regional health plans, Blues plans, and Medicaid/Medicare Advantage plans. This is a senior individual contributor role, focused on owning the full sales cycle — from prospecting and pitching to closing and growing strategic accounts.

You’ll work cross-functionally with product, clinical, and implementation teams to align Vim’s solutions with payer priorities in value-based care, provider performance, and digital transformation. Success in this role means bringing in net-new deals, expanding existing relationships, and shaping high-impact partnerships that support Vim’s growth.

Ideal candidates are experienced hunter-farmers who can operate independently, navigate complex sales cycles, and build strong relationships with senior stakeholders across payer organizations.

What You’ll Do
  • Own the full sales lifecycle with payer organizations: from prospecting to close to renewal
  • Build and grow strategic relationships with executives and decision-makers at national and regional health plans, Medicaid/Medicare Advantage plans, and Blues plans
  • Partner cross-functionally with Vim’s product, implementation, and clinical teams to tailor and deliver solutions that align with payer needs
  • Evangelize Vim’s platform and product suite to stakeholders across technology, operations, network, and clinical functions
  • Influence GTM strategy with field insights and trends from health plans
  • Help shape the future of Vim’s payer sales motion by establishing repeatable best practices and pipeline discipline.
What You’ll Need
  • 7–10+ years of experience in healthcare technology sales, with at least 5 years focused on payer organizations
  • Demonstrated ability to close 6–7 figure deals with health plans as an individual contributor
  • Proven track record of hunting and farming payer accounts and building pipelines in startup or scale-up environments
  • Deep familiarity with payer pain points including risk adjustment, STARS, provider performance, and value-based care operations
  • Strong command of healthcare technology topics such as clinical data exchange, point-of-care solutions, and API integrations
  • Able to build relationships across payer stakeholders – from clinical and network leaders to operations and IT
  • Self-starter who thrives in ambiguity and fast-paced, high-growth environments

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with value-based care enablement or provider engagement solutions
  • Background in consulting or strategic partnerships in health tech
  • Prior experience introducing or selling new-to-market healthcare products

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
