About You

As the Vice President of Engineering, you will oversee every aspect of our engineering department for Nutrafol. You will set the technical vision and strategy, driving innovation and ensuring the delivery of high-quality products and services. In this prominent role, you are expected to build and lead an efficient engineering organization that prioritizes customer-focused innovation, reliable product delivery, and maximum system uptime.

This role will report directly to the CTO and will have the responsibility to strengthen an already high-performing technology organization with sound foundational architecture and lead a team of directors, managers, and engineers to deliver the technology roadmap for Nutrafol. 

This role oversees our complete technology stack—including DTC, B2B, and Enterprise systems—while also developing our frontend, backend, and operations teams. You’ll be tasked with building out our site reliability, AI, and machine learning capabilities. Additionally, you will define the technical solutions needed to execute our technology roadmap and provide architectural guidance on projects such as CMS migrations, mobile app development, and new product launches, as well as support larger transformation initiatives like ERP and payment gateway migrations

Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

  • Provide strategic and technical leadership to the engineering team, ensuring alignment with the overall business goals and objectives. Develop and communicate the engineering vision, strategy, and roadmap.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in software development methodologies, project management, quality assurance, and release management. Streamline engineering processes to increase efficiency and reduce time-to-market.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with engineering projects and operations. Implement robust security practices and ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations.

Technical Architecture and Innovation 

  • Define and maintain the technology stack and software/hardware architecture to support scalability, reliability, and performance. Stay updated with emerging technologies and trends, and evaluate their potential impact on the organization.
  • Oversee data collection, warehousing, analytics, and visualization initiatives to ensure the organization leverages data as a strategic asset.

Team Development & Cross Functional Collaboration

  • Manage and mentor a diverse team of engineers, including software developers, hardware engineers, quality assurance professionals, and technical project managers. Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team
  • Collaborate with other functional leaders, such as product management, growth, operations, and marketing, to ensure seamless integration of engineering efforts with other business functions. Foster strong cross-functional relationships and effective communication channels.
  • Define talent acquisition strategies and lead the recruitment efforts to attract top engineering talent. Develop and execute comprehensive training and development programs to enhance the skills and capabilities of the engineering org and build a high performing team.
  • Establish, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to data quality, system efficiency, and user engagement to ensure engineering initiatives directly contribute to business outcomes.
  • Participate in strategic planning meetings with product management, digital experience, data, and design teams. Provide architectural guidance to help teams build systems that meet business needs—leveraging microservices, test automation, experimentation, and scalable quality engineering practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in a senior leadership role within an engineering organization, including experience leading engineering teams for high volume eCommerce websites and delivering web and mobile eCommerce applications at large scales
  • Strong technical background and deep understanding of software development processes, methodologies, and tools within the eCommerce space is required; DTC experience is a plus 
  • 7+ years of experience in managing and scaling engineering teams, including remote and distributed teams
  • Experience in product development, preferably in a fast-paced technology-driven environment
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Proven track record to partner with multiple stakeholders and partners to build an innovative and collaborative engineering portfolio, the scale for growth, and navigate complexity
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to think long-term and make data-driven decisions
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a track record of delivering results
  • Knowledge of industry best practices, emerging technologies, and trends in software and hardware engineering
  • Software delivery leveraging agile and lean practices at scale
  • Open source software development languages & frameworks like React, JavaScript, mysql, nginx/php web server development, Redis, Scala etc
  • Experience with Magento/Adobe Commerce is desirable
  • Experience with data engineering platforms such as Snowflake, Snowpark etc. 
  • Hands on experience with delivering solutions on cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure)
  • Hands on experience building application with AI/ML preparing data, training models, testing, predicting and deploying solutions based on the models
  • Experience building mobile apps with iOS, Android. Flutter experience is desirable
  • Ability to evaluate and produce solutions from vendors and emerging solutions
  • Expertise in building highly scalable and transactional customer-facing applications
  • Good understanding of infrastructure, networks, and security with a focus on security life cycle management and cyber security
  • Passion and expertise to build highly flexible and performant data solutions
  • eCommerce and retail systems understanding with full ecosystem impact
Nutrafol takes into consideration a wide range of factors in final compensation decisions, including but not limited to: skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, qualifications and education, and other business and organizational needs. The listed range is applicable only to the annual base salary and does not include additional perks, benefits, or applicable bonus eligibility comprising the total compensation package.
Salary Range:
$220,000$240,000 USD
