This position will be a hybrid work arrangement. You will receive 18 remote workdays per quarter to use at your discretion, subject to manager approval. For example, you may choose to work in the office 4 days per week and take one remote day weekly (typically 13 weeks per quarter), leaving 5 additional remote days to be used as needed.
About Evergreen Portfolio Management
The Evergreen Portfolio Management team manages HarbourVest’s growing suite of private markets evergreen portfolios for wealth and institutional investors. The team sits at the center of portfolio construction, investment pacing, liquidity management, performance oversight, and new product development, working closely with investment strategy teams and senior leaders across the firm.
As a Vice President, you will help lead portfolio management across both equity and credit funds. You will translate portfolio data and market judgment into clear recommendations, own core analytical and execution workstreams, and represent the funds with internal committees, boards, distribution partners, and investors. This is a high-impact role for an investment professional who wants broad responsibility and the opportunity to help build a rapidly scaling platform.
What you will do:
Portfolio Strategy and Construction
- Own and advance portfolio construction for open-ended evergreen funds across a portfolio private equity and private credit strategies.
- Lead the development and ongoing refinement of tactical plans, strategic allocation ranges, investment pacing, capacity, and investment sizing recommendations.
- Evaluate prospective investments and pipeline opportunities for portfolio fit, diversification, liquidity impact, expected return, and fund-specific constraints.
- Participate in Evergreen Portfolio Management Committee discussions and maintain a strong understanding of the assets and strategies available to the evergreen funds.
- Track fund positioning and performance against objectives, identify key drivers, and recommend actions to improve portfolio outcomes.
Liquidity and Balance Sheet Management
- Lead liquidity planning across subscriptions, redemptions, cash balances, liquidity risk limits, credit facility sizing and utilization, hedging, and portfolio asset sales.
- Oversee cash flow forecasting, sensitivity analysis, and portfolio stress testing, including the development of practical downside scenarios and management actions.
- Drive recommendations on investable capital, commitment pacing, asset monetization, and other balance sheet decisions.
- Ensure portfolio management analyses and recommendations are accurate, decision-ready, and completed on time.
Investment Management and Governance
- Develop clear, well-supported recommendations for Senior Portfolio Managers and the Evergreen Portfolio Management Committee.
- Lead tactical plan reviews, board materials, regulatory analysis, and internal and external reporting.
- Translate complex portfolio issues into concise decisions, trade-offs, and recommended actions for senior audiences.
- Maintain strong controls and review standards across recurring portfolio management processes.
Fundraising, Client Service, and Market Representation
- Represent the evergreen funds in fundraising and client meetings with existing investors, prospective investors, and distribution partners.
- Lead or support roadshows, portfolio updates, annual meetings, board presentations, and thematic conference presentations.
- Produce high-quality content on portfolio positioning, investment performance, liquidity, and market conditions for internal and external audiences.
- Adapt technical investment content to the needs of sophisticated investment professionals, wealth partners, boards, and other stakeholders.
Leadership and Team Development
- Lead by example in a small, entrepreneurial team and take ownership of high-priority workstreams.
- Manage, coach, and develop Associates, including setting priorities, reviewing work, and ensuring consistently high-quality output.
- Build strong cross-functional relationships and coordinate effectively across investment teams, capital markets, asset divestment, investor relations, operations, and quantitative investment sciences
- Support new product launches, seed asset reviews, strategic platform initiatives, and other firmwide priorities as needed.
What you bring:
- Experience evaluating investments and making portfolio recommendations across private markets. Experience with private credit is preferred.
- Strong understanding of portfolio construction, investment pacing, performance analysis, and liquidity management. Familiarity with evergreen or open-ended fund structures is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to build and interpret quantitative financial models, including cash flow forecasts, sensitivity analysis, and stress testing.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the judgment and presence to present recommendations to senior investment professionals, committees, boards, clients, and distribution partners.
- Experience managing or developing junior professionals and maintaining high standards across team output.
- An entrepreneurial, execution-focused mindset and the ability to operate confidently in a dynamic environment with limited supervision.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with data visualization, portfolio analytics, and AI-enabled tools is preferred.
Education Preferred
- Bachelor of Arts (B.A) / Bachelor of Science (B.S) or equivalent experience
- MBA, CFA, or other relevant advanced qualification
Experience
- 6+ years of relevant experience in private markets investing, transaction execution, portfolio management, investment banking, or a related investment role

Base Salary Range
$200,000.00 - $225,000.00
This USD base salary range represents only one component of total compensation for this role and is provided in accordance with local requirements. This role is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, which is determined based on individual and overall firm performance. In addition to salary and bonus eligibility, total compensation may include participation in long-term reward programs (typically for more senior-level roles). We also offer a comprehensive total rewards package that may include retirement contributions, health insurance, income protection, paid time off and leave benefits as well as well-being programs. Our total rewards offerings are influenced by several business factors, and eligibility for certain components will vary by position and geography. Please note the posted ranges do not apply outside the U.S. and should not be converted to other currencies as a proxy for compensation in other countries.
