Position Overview
The Technology Associate is a two-year rotational program in which you will work across three technology teams at GMO. This program identifies and develops exceptionally bright and motivated individuals to build our pipeline of talented technologists. After two years of the program, the goal is for you to be placed in a full-time position with one of our technology teams.
In this role you will develop and support tools and processes for research, trading, portfolio management, client, and operations. GMO’s technology teams have close interaction with our business stakeholders.
Each rotation will be approximately eight months in duration. The duration and nature of each rotation will vary based on technology team needs and your skills and interests, and usually encompass:
• cloud & infrastructure
• data processing & analysis
• application development
Upon joining in June 2025, you will participate in a training program over the course of several weeks to gain insight into the firm and the investment management technology landscape. Additional training will be provided throughout your tenure in the program.
Responsibilities:
• Propose, design, and implement technology solutions for our business partners:
•for investment teams doing research, portfolio construction and optimization, trade analytics, and portfolio implementation.
•for client teams that support GMO’s clients and their overall experience with GMO.
• Enhance existing technology solutions.
• Work closely with technology experts, product owners, and the research teams while gaining skills in Python, SQL, C#, PowerShell, JavaScript, R, MATLAB, or other languages.
• Manage the design and implementation of enterprise service platforms through process monitoring, automation, configuration, and learning DevOps best practices.
• Safeguard, monitor, and support production environments and processes by developing automated and manual tests, running regression suites, and analyzing results.
• Troubleshoot and remediate technical problems.
• Participate in peer reviews (both code and design reviews).
• Participate in producing technical documentation where needed.
Qualifications:
• Previous experience with programming or scripting languages through previous internships, personal projects and/or classwork.
• Knowledge of common technology concepts such as data stores, coding, cloud computing, cybersecurity, or infrastructure.
• Strong track record of completing technology solutions.
• Desire to develop a broad range of technical skills.
• Ability to quickly learn new concepts, systems, and software.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Positive attitude, professional and mature.
• Detail-oriented, can effectively manage multiple tasks, and able to prioritize work (although we will help you with that).
• Education degrees, certificates, or credentials in a technology-related field are recommended.
