Own complex cloud infrastructure and migration programs, including multi-cloud environment setup and production workload migrations. Coordinate Engineering, SRE, DevOps, Security, QA, Product, and leadership teams; manage dependencies, risks, cutovers, rollback plans, metrics, compliance, and stakeholder communications. The role requires hands-on experience leading production SaaS cloud migrations, strong hyperscaler knowledge, release engineering familiarity, and excellent program management skills.

About the Role

As a Technical Program Manager (TPM) at NinjaOne, you will own the programs that take us from a single-cloud service on AWS to a multi-cloud platform. You will lead the work of standing up and operating production environments on GCP, Azure, and other major providers, and you will drive the migration of workloads across them. You will join a newly formed team and run complex, multi-threaded programs from concept to delivery across Engineering, SRE, DevOps, Security, and Product. You will map technical dependencies, mitigate risk, and keep stakeholders informed through high-signal reporting.

This role is for someone who has done it before. You have been accountable for standing up a multi-cloud environment or migrating production workloads off a single cloud, and you can hold your own with architects on what that takes.

Location

We are flexible on remote work if you are located in the USA and reside in one of the following states: CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, *IL, KS, MA, MD, ME, NJ, NC, NY, OR, TN, TX, VA, OH, and WA. We have physical offices in Austin, TX and Tampa, FL if you prefer a hybrid option.

*Onsite interviews may be required for this role.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead cloud migration and multi-cloud programs: Own end-to-end delivery of programs that stand up new cloud environments and migrate production workloads, including data, services, networking, identity, and observability. Define cutover strategies, rollback plans, and success criteria.
  • Outline program goals: Define goals and deliverables for each initiative, and build alignment and shared vision within the working group. Partner with Engineering leaders to translate technical constraints into requirements or acceptable workarounds.
  • Coordinate across teams: Work with Development, QA, SRE, DevOps, Security, and Senior Leadership through weekly reviews and status checkpoints. Understand the full product delivery cycle and where cloud changes touch it.
  • Manage complexity and dependencies: Build and maintain project plans, dependency charts, and a risk register. Manage multiple concurrent workstreams without losing sight of the critical path. Report through Executive Summaries and Detailed Status updates.
  • Measure and instrument: Define what "great" looks like for each program and make it measurable. Establish baselines (for example, migration progress, cost, latency, availability, and delivery metrics), instrument them, and use them to surface problems early rather than to narrate progress.
  • Manage risk and stakeholders: Identify technical, resource, cost, and compliance risks early, own mitigation strategies, and report transparently to senior leadership. Run audits, checkpoints, and milestone reviews.
  • Drive change management: Anticipate and manage change through impact assessment, communication, and timely decisions.
  • Influence and resolve conflict: Build trust-based relationships across the organization, bring options to the table, and drive consensus so programs keep moving.
  • Other duties as needed.

About You

  • Cloud program experience (hard requirement): You have led, as the accountable TPM or program owner, at least one of the following in a production SaaS environment:
    • Standing up a multi-cloud or hybrid-cloud environment, or
    • Migrating a production workload from a single cloud to another cloud or to a multi-cloud architecture.
  • 8+ years in Technical Program Management at a SaaS company, working within an Engineering team.
  • Working knowledge of hyperscaler services (AWS required, plus Azure and/or GCP), including compute, storage, networking, IAM, and managed databases, sufficient to hold your own in architecture and design discussions.
  • Experience with large-scale datastore, stateful-workload, or data migrations, including cutover planning, validation, and rollback.
  • Experience with release engineering, CI/CD, or deployment automation. You have improved how software ships, not only what ships.
  • Experience delivering programs in a regulated or audited environment (FedRAMP, SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, or similar). You work within change-control and evidence-collection processes rather than around them.
  • Track record of defining and instrumenting delivery metrics (DORA, flow metrics, or equivalent) and using them to drive decisions.
  • Strong grounding in Agile, Scrum, and release management.
  • Ability to explain technology and program status clearly to audiences from engineers to executives.
  • Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and to define details without supervision.
  • Experience collaborating with global teams in fully remote cultures and managing task accountability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. We are collaborative, fast-moving, and succinct, and our communication style matches.
  • Power-user proficiency in JIRA, with optimized workflows, accurate reporting data, and a single source of truth for project activity.
  • Bachelor's in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or an equivalent technical field. Relevant work experience will also be considered.

Strongly Preferred

  • Experience with cloud cost management (FinOps) during or after a migration.
  • Experience with data residency, sovereignty, or gov-cloud requirements.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or similar), and cross-cloud networking or identity federation.
  • Experience with Java, Kotlin, Golang, or Postgres-based platforms.
  • Cyber security or engineering leadership experience on a SaaS platform.

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings

  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
