Senior Strategic Sourcing Specialist (U.S.)

Location: San Francisco Bay Area, CA (Remote — Bay Area Only)
Travel: 25–50% (primarily local Bay Area supplier visits)

Build the Manufacturing Network Behind the World’s Best Hardware

Fictiv is building the world’s leading platform for hardware manufacturing—and our supplier network is at the heart of that mission.

As a Senior Strategic Sourcing Specialist, you’ll be responsible for building, qualifying, and strengthening Fictiv’s U.S.-based manufacturing partner network. You’ll work hands-on with CNC, sheet metal, additive manufacturing, and injection molding suppliers to ensure we have the right capabilities, capacity, quality, and cost structure to support our customers at scale.

This is a remote role, but candidates must live in the San Francisco Bay Area. Local presence is essential, as this position involves frequent, in-person visits to manufacturing partners to assess capabilities, develop relationships, and drive continuous improvement.

This is not a transactional sourcing role and not a desk-only job. You’ll spend time on factory floors, in production discussions, and working directly with suppliers to solve real manufacturing challenges.

You’ll report to the Manager of Strategic Sourcing, U.S., and serve as a senior individual contributor and subject-matter expert within the Strategic Sourcing team.

Why This Role Matters

The Strategic Sourcing team enables Fictiv to deliver speed, quality, and reliability to our customers. In this role, your decisions directly influence:

  • Manufacturing partner performance
  • Customer satisfaction and repeat business
  • Fictiv’s ability to scale complex manufacturing programs
  • Cost, lead time, and operational resilience across the U.S. supply base

You’ll ensure Fictiv maintains a balanced, high-performing domestic supplier network—one that can meet demanding technical requirements while staying competitive on cost and lead time.

This role requires ongoing engagement with suppliers, both virtually and on-site, to evaluate performance, resolve issues, and drive long-term improvements.

What You’ll Do

Build & Manage Manufacturing Partner Relationships

Supplier Sourcing & Onboarding

  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard new U.S.-based manufacturing partners
  • Conduct on-site assessments of technical capability, capacity, and operational readiness
  • Ensure suppliers align with Fictiv’s standards, goals, and long-term strategy

Relationship Ownership

  • Build trusted, long-term relationships with strategic manufacturing partners
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for supplier performance and alignment
  • Engage suppliers both in person and remotely to drive accountability and results

Negotiate & Align Commercial Terms

Manufacturing Service Agreements (MSAs)

  • Lead or support negotiations of Manufacturing Service Agreements
  • Align suppliers on pricing, lead times, capacity commitments, and performance expectations
  • Ensure agreements support scalability, quality, and long-term competitiveness

Develop & Strengthen Supplier Performance

Supplier Development

  • Lead supplier development initiatives to improve quality, throughput, reliability, and technical capability
  • Partner with Quality, Operations, and Engineering to address performance gaps

Engagement & Standards

  • Drive consistent supplier engagement and adherence to Fictiv standards and expectations

Optimize Cost, Capacity & Network Health

  • Manage a strategically balanced domestic supplier portfolio
  • Optimize spend allocation, capacity utilization, and capability coverage
  • Analyze cost structures, utilization data, and performance metrics to drive efficiency and transparency

Collaborate Across the Business

  • Partner closely with Sales, Product Management, Quality, Costing/DFM, and Operations teams
  • Align supplier strategies with customer needs and program requirements
  • Support supply chain development for large or complex customer programs

Be Present on the Factory Floor

  • Conduct regular on-site visits to manufacturing partner facilities
  • Assess real-world production constraints and opportunities
  • Strengthen partnerships through direct, face-to-face collaboration

Travel Expectation:
Average 25–50% travel, primarily local to the San Francisco Bay Area

How You’ll Work

  • Operate in alignment with the Strategic Sourcing Charter and defined Areas of Responsibility
  • Maintain consistent, scalable sourcing processes and documentation
  • Contribute to and uphold Fictiv’s Quality Management System (QMS)

What We’re Looking For

  • 7+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, supply chain, manufacturing engineering, or supplier development
  • Hands-on experience working directly with domestic manufacturing suppliers, including on-site engagement
  • Strong knowledge of CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, injection molding, or additive manufacturing
  • Proven success sourcing, qualifying, negotiating with, and developing manufacturing suppliers
  • Strong analytical skills with experience interpreting cost models and operational data
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or related field
    (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Highly organized, self-directed, and comfortable operating autonomously
  • Strong project management capability
  • Ability to travel 25–50%, primarily within the San Francisco Bay Area

Compliance Requirement

This role requires access to export-controlled technology and is restricted to U.S. persons (U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or other protected individuals under 8 U.S.C. §1324b). Proof of status will be required prior to employment.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) plan
  • Monthly virtual work stipend (internet, food, wellness, pet care, travel)
  • Annual education stipend
  • Paid parental leave
  • Paid volunteer days
  • Full onboarding setup (standing desk, laptop, monitor, chair)
  • Ergonomic and equipment stipend
  • And more

Salary Range
