Boston Dynamics is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join us. If you are creative, have a passion for improving your team members’ lives, and thrive in a dynamic and team-oriented environment, this is the role for you! 

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be part of the Stretch team responsible for designing and developing system level software. The work environment is positive and dynamic. You will play a key role in building some of the most sophisticated warehouse robots in the industry. 

Boston Dynamics is a world leader in mobile robots, tackling some of the toughest robotics challenges. For years, our awe-inspiring viral videos on YouTube have shown the world what remarkably capable robots can do. Now we are quickly becoming a recognized leader in automation solutions for industrial applications and warehouse logistics. 

You are responsible for: 

  • Designing, developing, unit testing and documenting new features and subsystems 

  • Identify and fix potential security threats 

  • Support the hardware team in board bring-up and debugging 

  • Developing libraries, device drivers, operating system debug, tuning and reliability 

  • Mentoring less experienced software engineers.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience: 

  • 4+ years of experience in real-time Linux platform operating system development 

  • Deep understanding of Linux, including the kernel, early boot, scheduling 

  • Experience with concurrency, inter-process communication, and real-time systems 

  • Experience with profiling, monitoring, and optimization tools

  • Networking fundamentals including WiFi (802.11) and automotive ethernet

  • At least 3+ years of programming in languages such as C++, Golang, and Python 

  • Working knowledge of development tools such as Jira and Git/Github 

  • BS/MS in Computer Science/Computer Engineering or equivalent 

Bonus points if you have: 

  • A passion for secure software architecture and design

  • Experience with ARM or nvidia platforms 

  • Good understanding of cloud technologies and distributed systems

  • Knowledge of systemd 

We are interested in every qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. However, we are not able to sponsor visas for this position.

The base pay range for this position is between $134,400 to $168,000 annually. Base pay will depend on multiple individualized factors including, but not limited to internal equity, job related knowledge, skills and experience. This range represents a good faith estimate of compensation at the time of posting. Boston Dynamics offers a generous Benefits package including medical, dental vision, 401(k), paid time off and a annual bonus structure. Additional details regarding these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer for employment.
