Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

Brand Studio team works on a variety of brand-centric projects for Stripe, from our brand standards to campaigns, events, IRL experiences, packaging, digital products, and even printed publications. The brand designers on this team are multidisciplinary in nature, able to design robust visual systems, art direction, and craft surfaces that focus on brand and product storytelling.

Collaborating with other teams at Stripe, as well as external partners, we raise the quality and consistency of experiences with the Stripe brand IRL, virtually, and everywhere in between. We craft the creative vision and strategy for different types of projects and audiences, and amplify them across various mediums, channels, objects to environments, and digital and physical experiences.

About Stripe Creative Lab

Stripe Creative Lab aims to create breakthrough, culturally resonant, and exquisitely crafted projects that reveal Stripe’s magic in surprising ways. We dedicate ourselves to meticulously crafting the work to ensure the highest possible creative quality. The work is experimental, often starts with ambiguous briefs and requires finding a way where others might deem it impossible. We are making it up as we go, and that’s the way we love to work.

What you’ll do

You’ll be joining a highly creative team that spans the gamut of creative execution, from digital experiences (like interactive games or live-streaming a handbuilt, miniature city) to physical activations (like retrofitting CRT monitors or retired MTA ticketing machines) and beyond. The work is highly experimental, idea-driven, and very collaborative.

The work starts with ideas. Your ability to generate original and interesting concepts is foundational, as is your ability to find the right form for them and bring them to life, both with your own hands and through close collaboration with people across a wide range of disciplines.

Responsibilities
  • Be an adamant maker that is genuinely curious, experimental, and loves to tinker, iterate quickly, and innovate on ideas, narrative, and making beautiful things
  • Creative vision: Design execution and quality of ideas work in equal partnership
  • Collaborate with like-minded creative people who have radically different skill sets and together create ideas that envision an optimistic, progressive future
  • Help shape the strategic vision for design that pushes the boundaries of the brand and build awareness for what we do and why it’s important to Stripe
  • Partner widely with cross-functional teams to build upon great ideas through making things
  • Give and solicit feedback from wide range of teammates, agency partners, and stakeholders
  • Generate original, conceptually strong ideas from ambiguous briefs, strategic problems, cultural observations, and emerging opportunities
  • Determine the right form for an idea, then direct multidisciplinary collaborators to bring it to life across a wide range of mediums
  • Develop clear creative narratives, pitches, references, treatments, and prototypes that make an idea compelling before its final execution is known
Who you are

We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements
  • 8+ years of relevant creative experience in concepting and delivering ideas
  • Experience creating and directing experimental work across a variety of mediums, disciplines, and collaborators
  • Strong track record independently delivering work as well as influencing the work of other designers, contractors, and agencies
  • A strong strategic acumen for building leading brands in a fast paced, global facing environment
  • Exceptional craft
  • A portfolio demonstrating exceptional conceptual thinking and art direction across a range of formats and disciplines
  • Exceptional visual and cultural taste, with a broad frame of reference extending beyond design
Preferred qualifications
  • Are genuinely curious, ambitious and creative with a refreshing sense of design, art, technology, and culture
  • Are persuasive and humble in explaining your work, process, and decisions and experienced at facilitating stakeholders to advance the project as well as design quality
  • Have excellent organization and presentation skills, and excel in written and verbal communication
  • Love working with other designers to help them learn and grow (and invite them to help you do the same)
  • Have experience working in or alongside highly conceptual advertising, design, or cultural studios
  • Experience working with cross functional partners
  • Proficient in the latest AI and creative tools
  • Creative coding or creative technologist background is a nice to have

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
