About the Job:

The Senior Manager, Market & Competitive Insights is an action‑oriented leader and strategic thought partner responsible for driving execution and continuous improvement of FMI’s market and competitive insight capabilities. This role supports cross‑functional initiatives that enable high‑quality commercial and portfolio decision‑making, leads prioritization across defined insight domains, and mobilizes partners to improve the effectiveness, usability, and impact of market intelligence across the organization.

Working closely with Commercial, Product, Medical, Finance, and Analytics stakeholders—and in alignment with Roche Diagnostics Insights and the Roche Data Office—the Senior Manager ensures that market and competitive insights are consistently translated into actionable outputs that inform forecasting, portfolio planning, and execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and own defined Market & Competitive Insight initiatives that support Commercial and Product OKRs, partnering closely with Marketing, Product, Finance, and Roche Diagnostics teams
  • Partner with Marketing and Commercial teams to incorporate market and competitive intelligence into segmentation, targeting, and launch planning activities
  • Partner with Product and Medical teams to support product development milestones by quantifying market opportunity, demand, and competitive context
  • Support alignment with Roche Diagnostics Insights and the Roche Data Office by adhering to shared data sources, market assumptions, and analytical standards
  • Develop, maintain, and scale repeatable market and competitive insight processes, including landscape updates, model refreshes, and standardized readouts
  • Identify inefficiencies in insight workflows and implement practical improvements that increase speed, clarity, and stakeholder adoption
  • Understand key business measures and collaborate across FMI to develop KPIs and tracking mechanisms related to insight delivery, planning effectiveness, and decision readiness
  • Partner with analytics and insights teams to interpret market signals, competitive developments, and customer inputs and translate them into actionable recommendations
  • Develop dashboards and standardized materials that surface market trends, competitive signals, and planning implications
  • Facilitate evolution of systems and tools (e.g., Salesforce and related platforms) to improve structured data capture and access to market intelligence
  • Mentor Managers and Analysts and contribute to a culture of operational excellence, analytical rigor, and customer‑centric decision‑making
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, life sciences, or a related discipline
  • 6–8+ years of experience in market insights, competitive intelligence, analytics, strategy, or a similar role within healthcare, diagnostics, or biopharma

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or advanced degree
  • Experience partnering cross‑functionally in matrixed environments
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills with experience presenting insights to operational and leadership audiences
  • Understanding of HIPAA and patient data privacy

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Boston, MA is $128,480 - $160,600 per year. The salary range is commensurate with Foundation Medicine’s compensation practice and considers factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, external market conditions, criticality of role, and internal equity. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for Foundation Medicine's benefits.
