Job Description

The Senior Director, Human Resources – Finance & Corporate Strategy serves as a strategic HR Business Partner to senior leaders, translating business priorities into talent, organizational, and workforce strategies that enable performance and long-term growth.

This leader provides strategic HR leadership across talent and succession, organizational effectiveness, workforce planning, leadership development, culture, and transformation. Success requires strong business and financial acumen, sound organizational judgment, and the ability to influence and execute in a complex, global, matrixed environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic HR Business Partnership
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior Finance and Corporate Strategy leaders, translating business priorities into actionable people and organizational strategies.
  • Anticipate talent, capability, and organizational risks and use data and business insights to shape decisions.
  • Strengthen organizational effectiveness, accountability, and execution while balancing functional and enterprise priorities.
Talent, Leadership & Succession
  • Lead talent and succession planning, building strong pipelines and readiness for critical roles.
  • Coach leaders on talent, performance, leadership effectiveness, and team development.
  • Identify capability and retention risks and create development and mobility opportunities that strengthen the enterprise talent pipeline.
Organizational Effectiveness & Design
  • Advise leaders on organizational structure, roles, governance, decision rights, and ways of working to improve effectiveness and productivity.
  • Diagnose organizational challenges and develop solutions across structure, talent, leadership, and process.
  • Lead organizational changes that address current performance needs while building future capability.
Transformation & Workforce Strategy
  • Lead the people and organizational aspects of transformation, restructuring, operating model changes, and other workforce initiatives.
  • Develop workforce strategies that balance capability, capacity, cost, location, and future business requirements.
  • Partner with leaders to translate AI, automation, and digital transformation into workforce, skill, and organizational implications.
Culture, Engagement & Leadership Effectiveness
  • Build an inclusive, high-performance culture aligned with Thermo Fisher Scientific values and business priorities.
  • Use employee and organizational insights to strengthen engagement, collaboration, accountability, and leadership effectiveness.
  • Coach leaders to address cultural and organizational barriers and improve team performance.
HR Leadership & OneTeam Partnership
  • Partner across HR Business Partners, Centers of Excellence, Regional HR, and HR Operations to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Connect functional priorities with enterprise HR strategies and ensure effective execution of core talent and HR processes.
  • Use business and HR data to prioritize actions, measure impact, and contribute to broader HR initiatives.

  • Strong understanding of business and financial drivers, with the ability to connect strategy to workforce, talent, and organizational implications.
  • Strong analytical and data fluency with credibility partnering with senior Finance and Corporate Strategy leaders.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree plus 10 years progressive HR leadership in a global, complex organization

  • Direct experience partnering with revenue-driving leaders with demonstrated success implementing transformative initiatives that drive business results

  • Strong analytical and financial acumen, and comfort discussing margin, productivity, and capital allocation

  • Executive presence and composure under pressure

  • Structured thinker who synthesizes complexity into clear, actionable paths

  • Ability to challenge respectfully while maintaining trust

  • Resilience in fast-paced, high-expectation environments

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in Massachusetts is $192,700.00–$256,900.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
