Overview

SimpliSafe is seeking a Senior Director of Insights to lead research across SimpliSafe. This leader will be responsible for managing a best-in-class insights organization that deeply understands our customers, prospects, and market—and translates that understanding into clear, actionable direction for the business.

As the senior-most insights leader, you will own the design and quality of all quantitative research across Marketing, Product, and Customer Experience. You will also have dotted line oversight of User Experience research for Product/App and eComm. You will partner closely with leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure customer truth is embedded in strategic decisions, product development, go-to-market execution, and end-to-end experience design.

This role requires a strong balance of strategic vision, analytical rigor, storytelling excellence, and people leadership.

What You’ll Own

Insights Function

  • Own a deep, holistic understanding of customers, prospects, and the market across the full customer journey—from awareness and acquisition through retention and advocacy
  • Establish and maintain a clear source of customer truth to inform enterprise strategy, strategic priorities, and investment decisions
  • Define research standards and best practices, ensuring methodological rigor while balancing speed, relevance, and impact
  • Own insights operations, including tools, vendor partnerships, and budget

Go To Market Enablement

  • Lead customer and market research that informs new products, services, and go-to-market motions across Marketing, Product, and Customer Experience.
  • Deliver actionable marketing and brand insights to inform positioning, messaging, creative development, and media optimization.
  • Track customer satisfaction and identify opportunities to improve the end-to-end customer experience across sales, onboarding, support, and service.
  • Translate insights into clear, compelling recommendations that drive alignment and measurable business impact

Leadership, Influence & Team Development

  • Lead and develop a high performing insights team
  • Build a culture of collaboration and continuous learning where researchers regularly share insights, approaches, and lessons learned across domains
  • Serve as a trusted thought partner to senior leaders across Marketing, Product, Customer Experience
  • Champion a culture of curiosity, customer obsession, and evidence-based decision-making across the company.

What You Bring

  • 12+ years of experience in market research, with significant people leadership experience 
  • Deep expertise across qualitative and quantitative methods, including advanced analytics (e.g., clustering, driver analysis, MaxDiff)
  • Proven experience partnering with Marketing, Product, Design, and Customer Experience teams to deliver both ad-hoc and tracking insights
  • Demonstrated ability to influence executive-level strategy and drive measurable business impact through insights
  • Strong comfort operating in ambiguity, setting vision, and prioritizing work to deliver maximum impact
  • Exceptional storytelling and communication skills, with the ability to turn data into clear, actionable recommendations
  • A track record of building and scaling high-performing teams and fostering a culture of curiosity and customer obsession
  • Passion for advocating for the customer and embedding customer-centricity into how decisions are made

The target annual base pay range for this role is $202,100 to $269,500

This target annual base pay range represents our good-faith estimate of what we expect to pay for this role. We use a market-based compensation approach to set our target annual base pay ranges and make adjustments annually. We carefully tailor individual compensation packages, including base pay, taking into consideration employees’ job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and other relevant business factors. 

Beyond base pay, we offer a Total Rewards package that may include participation in our annual bonus program, equity, and other forms of compensation, in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and lifestyle benefits. More details can be found here.
