What You Can Expect
As a Software Engineer on our platform team, you will own and deliver full features independently, building reliable APIs and data infrastructure that directly shape the customer experience. Your technical instincts for scalability, observability, and performance will help keep our systems ahead of product demand, giving the broader engineering organization a strong foundation to build on. You will collaborate with experienced application and front-end engineers, using customer problems as your primary input for designing clean, maintainable solutions. Candidates who do not have meaningful backend engineering experience or are uncomfortable working at the intersection of systems design and product development are unlikely to be a strong fit for this role.
About the Team
Our engineering team builds the data infrastructure and intelligence systems that power Zoom’s go-to-market platform, bringing together signals, data orchestration, and execution workflows in one unified environment. We operate at the intersection of scale and complexity, supporting organizations that depend on reliable, real-time data to move faster and smarter. Our work directly influences how Zoom’s GTM teams and customers drive outcomes, making our systems among the most strategically important in the company.
Responsibilities
- Design and build infrastructure, data models, and APIs that power core platform features and resolve real customer problems at scale.
- Ship well-designed, testable code with a consistent focus on performance, scalability, and long-term reliability.
- Build and maintain software testing, validation procedures, and technical documentation that uphold engineering quality standards.
- Own core internal infrastructure and ML systems, ensuring they reliably serve the evolving needs of customers and cross-functional teams.
- Analyze complex system challenges and deliver simple, elegant solutions that account for observability, SLA commitments, and long-term scalability.
What We’re Looking For
- 6+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on backend systems and API development.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Solid hands-on experience with AWS, Postgres, and Node.js, including production-level deployment and operations.
- Proficiency across the application stack: TypeGraphQL, Apollo/Express, React, RDS, and ClickHouse.
- Demonstrated ownership of large-scale backend projects, with genuine pride in craft and code quality.
- Clear and effective communication with cross-functional engineering teams, including application and front-end engineers.
- Sound judgment on technical tradeoffs, a preference for stable and well-supported solutions, and a knack for turning customer problems into simple, scalable system designs.
