Boston Dynamics is looking for a Senior Software Engineer in Test to join us for the Warehouse Robot Automation team. If you are creative, have a passion for improving your team members’ lives, and thrive in a dynamic and team-oriented environment, this is the role for you!

As a Senior Software Engineer in Test, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, reliable, and scalable automated testing solutions that ensure the performance, safety, and functionality of warehouse robot software across embedded systems, control interfaces, and simulation environments. We accelerate development cycles, reduce risk, and improve product reliability working closely with software, systems, and infrastructure teams to shift testing left and catch issues before they reach production.

Boston Dynamics is a world leader in mobile robots, tackling some of the toughest robotics challenges. For years, our awe-inspiring viral videos on YouTube have shown the world what remarkably capable robots can do. Now we are quickly becoming a recognized leader in automation solutions for industrial applications and warehouse logistics.

What You’ll Do:
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites for warehouse robot applications, APIs, web interfaces, and control and autonomy systems

  • Build and evolve simulation-based test environments that validate robot behaviors against real-world scenarios before hardware deployment

  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to ensure continuous validation at the pre-merge phase

  • Develop and maintain robust test automation frameworks tailored to Stretch software development.

  • Drive test coverage toward 90%+ for critical components of warehouse robots.

  • Generate detailed test reports with defect analysis and coverage metrics and present findings to cross-functional stakeholders

  • Research and adopt new testing tools, methodologies, and AI-driven approaches to improve efficiency and reduce test execution time

  • Participate in daily triage of new incidents, contributing to root-cause analysis and prioritization

Required Skills & Experience:
  • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or a related field

  • 7+ years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on test automation or developer tooling

  • Proficiency in Python and/or C++ for test development

  • Experience with CI/CD systems (Jenkins, GitHub, Buildkite, or similar)

  • Familiarity with real-time operating systems or other robotics middleware

  • Strong understanding of software testing principles: unit, integration, system, regression, and performance testing

  • Experience writing automation frameworks from scratch, not just using existing test runners

  • Experience with web-based testing suites like Selenium, Playwright, or an equivalent framework

Desirable Skills & Experience:
  • Experience with simulation environments (MuJoCo, Isaac Sim, or similar)

  • Familiarity with embedded systems and hardware/software integration testing

  • Experience with Bazel or other large-scale build systems

  • Background in robotics, autonomous systems, or safety-critical software

  • Knowledge of parallel testing strategies and AI-assisted test tooling
