Program Manager, Detection & Response Operations
Rapid7's Managed Detection and Response Service (MDR) is looking for a program manager to sit at the crossroads of our Threat Intelligence, Hunting, and Incident Response Teams. This role requires an individual who has experience driving efficiency and communication between multiple teams, reporting to senior leadership the value/impact of these teams, experience creating new KPIs and metrics, and a background in operationalizing at least one of these three areas.
About the Team
The Managed Services Program Management Office (PMO) oversees and optimizes the delivery of Rapid7 Managed Services, ensuring alignment with business objectives, driving strategic direction, and fostering continuous improvement. The PMO leads program and project initiatives within and affecting the Managed Services organization, serving as a central hub for collaboration, enablement, and reporting across service teams and Rapid7. This approach enhances coordination, improves transparency, and drives greater effectiveness in service delivery.
About the Role
The Program Manager will create the first interlock between our Threat Intelligence, Incident Response, and Hunting teams. Staffed with industry-leading talent in their disciplines these three teams create tremendous added value for Managed Detection and Response customers. The Program Manager will create a connective operational system between the teams to promote a culture of "iron sharpening iron."
The Program Manager will also play a critical role in reporting to senior leadership the impact of these three teams. For example, they will present regularly to senior leadership about the roadmap of our threat detection team, the impact of the detections being written, and the efficacy of our detection program. They will also provide similar readouts on the impact of our hunting program and incident response teams.
The Program Manager will also assist in other projects and programs inside of managed services, at times away from their core responsibilities as needed by the business.
Collaborate on Product and Service Programs and Initiatives:

  • Work closely with Managed Services Product Managers and Service Delivery teams to drive and contribute to the success of key initiatives.
  • Participate in developing and executing strategies that align with business objectives and risk management goals.
  • Coordinate cross-functional efforts to ensure alignment between program goals and broader organizational priorities.

Contribute to Program Management Success:

  • Lead and support cross-organizational programs, ensuring they are strategically aligned with the company's goals and objectives.
  • Drive the development and implementation of best practices for program initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure.
  • Proactively address potential risks and roadblocks, applying proven problem-solving skills to deliver successful outcomes.
  • Establish clear project charters, timelines, and milestones, ensuring stakeholders remain informed and engaged throughout.

Build Stakeholder Relationships:

  • Partner with product teams, customer success, sales, and operations to align program outcomes with organizational needs.
  • Provide clear and consistent updates to stakeholders on program status, challenges, and successes.
  • Foster effective communication channels to address questions, concerns, and opportunities for collaboration.
  • Act as a trusted advisor, ensuring stakeholder expectations are managed and exceeded.

Drive Operational Excellence:

  • Contribute to refining repeatable processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and scalability.
  • Support the development and implementation of frameworks that enable the scaling of Managed Services offerings.
  • Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility to navigate changing priorities and requirements, ensuring continued program success.
  • Proactively seek and incorporate feedback to improve program management practices and outcomes.

Own and Report on Your Program:

  • Define an operational model for the teams within your program, optimizing their work so they can do what matters -- help customers, not fight tracking systems.
  • Ensure the work done within your program is tracked, measurable, and reportable to all levels of the organization
  • Create dashboards, reports, and presentations tailored to stakeholders across the organization that show everything from day to day operations, to impact of those efforts
  • Work closely with the leaders of the teams within your program to drive all of the above

The skills you'll bring include:

  • 4+ years in Program Management or Operations roles, preferably within a cybersecurity PMO or similar function.
  • Experience defining KPIs & measurements of success for programs
  • Experience defining and creating operational tracking systems (JIRA)
  • Strong communication skills across multiple levels of an organization
  • Experience working with globally dispersed teams
  • Familiarity with SQL and data analytics
  • Familiarity with Detection Engineering, Hunting, and/or Incident Response technology/engineering
