Lead design projects at WHOOP, focusing on AI-driven user experiences. Responsibilities include user research, prototyping, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
WHOOP is on a mission to unlock human performance and healthspan by giving members meaningful insights, actionable recommendations, and real results through a deeper understanding of their bodies. As we expand into new frontiers of health, performance, and human–AI interaction, design plays a critical role in shaping experiences that are both intuitive and transformative.
We are looking for a future-forward product designer to join our team. This is a senior-level role that spans research, UX, and visual design, with a strong emphasis on designing for AI-first experiences. You’ll help shape the next generation of WHOOP experiences at the intersection of human performance and emerging technologies, ensuring our members gain clarity, trust, and actionable insights from powerful, complex systems.
This role requires someone who thrives in ambiguity, designs with empathy, and can translate cutting-edge technology into human-centered workflows and interfaces. You will collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, researchers, and data scientists to bring new ideas to life.
What You’ll Do
- Lead design projects from research and problem framing through to UX flows, prototypes, and polished experiences
- Translate complex AI-driven insights into clear, approachable, and trustworthy interfaces.
- Conduct user research and usability testing to uncover member needs and validate design decisions
- Create information architectures, workflows, and interaction patterns that balance intuitiveness with technical sophistication
- Prototype in Figma (high proficiency required), while also leveraging no-code/low-code tools (e.g., Cursor, Bolt, Lovable, Framer) to explore real interactions
- Collaborate with PMs, engineers, and data scientists to define opportunities and deliver production-ready solutions
- Actively use AI in your design workflow (for ideation, prototyping, content generation, and synthesis)
What We’re Looking For
- Strong track record of collaboration with product management, engineering teams, and cross functional partners, with a team-first mindset and ability to build strong working relationships
- Proven experience leading design from concept through launch, especially in mobile or consumer-facing products
- Deep expertise in UX research, product strategy, and interaction design; able to frame ambiguous problems and shape structured solutions
- Extremely high level of proficiency in design tools and methodologies, including but not limited to Figma, wireframing, workflow diagramming, and prototyping
- Strong visual/UI design skills that complement UX craft.
- Familiarity with AI tools and an understanding of the unique design challenges AI brings (trust, explainability, transparency, accessibility)
- Experience designing for emerging technologies (AI-first products, wearables, AR/VR, or voice) is a strong plus
- Exceptional collaboration and communication skills; able to influence across disciplines
- Passion for health, fitness, and helping people understand and improve their performance
Why This Role Matters
AI is reshaping how people interact with technology. At WHOOP, we’re pioneering new ways to turn data and intelligence into meaningful, everyday coaching. In this role, you’ll ensure these experiences remain human-centered, ethical, and empowering, helping members unlock their full potential.
