Our Opportunity:
Chewy is looking for a passionate, data-driven Senior Merchandising Operations Analyst to join our Catalog Operations Team based in Boston, MA. Catalog Ops sits within the larger Merchandising Operations group which is responsible for creating the systems, services, and process infrastructure for all Chewy businesses. The team's mission is to be the backbone for Chewy's Business/Category teams, helping win long-term customer trust, business growth, and profitability. We own Catalog, Content, and Vendor Systems & Services that have automation, product, program, and operational components.
The ideal candidate will provide a good mix of information systems and merchandising business process knowledge including data analysis, functional knowledge of catalog and/or ERP systems, and technical knowledge of underlying system data structures and processes. The ideal candidate is innovative, diligent, driven and demonstrates a high degree of ownership in all they do. They are curious and capable of deep-diving complex situations and driving multi-functional process improvements. These skills will be applied to item-level data across the Chewy catalog, ensuring accuracy and completeness, ultimately influencing the customer experience. Does this sound like you? What You'll do:

  • Serve as a domain expert independently supervising a specific body of work/process in 1-2 high-visibility, high-complexity areas. Complete work in this area, identify and eliminate risks, issues or potential defects, innovate and implement process improvements by building scale and automation, develop standard operating procedures, educate and partner with multi-functional customers, provide frequent data analysis insights, etc.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to drive systems improvements and elegant analytical tools with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Communicate effectively metrics, data, and business impact to leaders that can be used to inform business decisions.
  • Synthesize large quantities of complex data into usable/actionable information.
  • Support ad hoc projects and initiatives involving Catalog systems and processes.
  • Mentor junior members of the team and contractors when needed.


What You'll Need:

  • BA in Economics/Finance or Master's degree (preferably in General Management/Finance/Economics/Computer Science/Tech Management/Engineering); Computer Science or other engineering fields
  • 2-3+ years of experience in business systems or merchandising analytics capacity as a subject-matter expert
  • Background in creating, managing and improving metrics (KPI) using quantitative analysis
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft suite of office products
  • Proficient in SQL
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to think and react in a high-energy, fast-paced environment
  • Superior attention to detail and experience creating mechanisms to monitor data integrity
  • Good communication (verbal/written) and interpersonal skills to convey key insights from complex analysis in summarized business terms and an ability to effectively communicate with technical teams
  • An entrepreneurial mentality and a driving passion to change, challenge, and improve current processes
  • Ability to operate in ambiguous environments with speed and commitment to quality
  • Position may require occasional travel


Bonus:

  • Relevant work experience using Python or R for data analytics; and Data visualization skills using Tableau or equivalent data visualization tool
  • Prior experience in Software Quality Processes and Atlassian Tools such as (Confluence, JIRA, etc.)
  • Prior experience with ERP systems
  • E-commerce background is a plus
