About Capnexus

Capnexus is a comprehensive services provider. Our team consists of outstanding professionals, highly experienced in designing, building, and supporting retail software. We see ourselves as a build-as-a-service provider who follows a repeatable business pattern that can be applied to a variety of platforms and verticals. With a culture built on outcomes and delivery, Capnexus provides customers with a complete suite of services for software development, system analysis, integration, implementation, and support — including the option to engage a single team to perform all the services they require.

Who You Are and What You'll Do

Capnexus is looking for a highly skilled Senior AWS Full Stack Developer to design, develop, and deliver a cloud-native application for a 12-week AI-powered modernization engagement in the construction industry. You will serve as a hands-on full stack developer building an intelligent subcontractor pre-qualification platform — including a self-service subcontractor portal, risk profiling, and exception management — leveraging AWS services, with a modern frontend and serverless backend. This is an opportunity to work on cutting-edge generative AI solutions that transform manual document review workflows into automated, intelligent processes.

Key Deliverables
  • Self-service subcontractor portal web application, including real-time data input verification and status tracking
  • Automated Subcontractor Submission Portal with smart forms, document uploads, and an embedded assistant
  • Risk Profiler dashboard covering subcontractor risk ratings, submission tracking, and AI-driven follow-up
  • Exception Management dashboard with flagged subcontractors, risk scores, and routing/approval workflows
  • API integration framework, including Autodesk and CMIC ERP integrations
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC) repository and CI/CD pipeline for deployment
  • Role-based access controls (RBAC) and security implementation for multi-party portal access
  • Source code repository with IaC templates and application components
  • Technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, deployment guides, and operational runbooks
  • Security implementation details covering encryption at rest/in transit, VPC design, IAM policies, and audit logging
Responsibilities
  • Design and develop the application architecture, UI/UX, and technical requirements during the Discovery & Design phase
  • Build and deploy a self-service subcontractor portal enabling real-time data input verification, submission status tracking, and document upload (insurance certificates, bonding letters, financial statements) via smart forms and an embedded assistant
  • Develop RESTful and serverless APIs using AWS Lambda and Amazon API Gateway to support frontend/backend integration, including an API integration framework for Autodesk and CMIC ERP
  • Configure and integrate AWS SES for automated, personalized subcontractor outreach and response tracking
  • Configure Amazon QuickSight to build the Risk Profiler and Exception Management dashboards — including real-time status, risk ratings, and flagged-subcontractor routing/approval workflows — integrated with CMIC ERP data
  • Integrate AI-powered document validation and exception management workflows driven by Amazon Bedrock
  • Design and implement role-based access controls (RBAC) and security controls for multi-party portal access, including encryption at rest/in transit, VPC design, IAM policies, and audit logging
  • Develop and host frontend applications using AWS Amplify, Amazon S3, and Amazon CloudFront
  • Build out an Infrastructure as Code (IaC) repository and CI/CD pipeline, and maintain a source code repository containing IaC templates and application components
  • Participate in CI/CD pipeline setup, automated testing, and deployment to production environments
  • Collaborate with cross-functional team members including AI/ML, DevOps, and Data Engineering resources
  • Conduct integration testing, support user acceptance testing (UAT), and develop user training materials
  • Produce technical documentation (architecture diagrams, deployment guides, operational runbooks) and contribute to knowledge transfer and post-deployment operations guides
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of full stack software development experience, with at least 2+ years working in AWS cloud environments
  • Proficiency in modern frontend frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue) and backend development using Python, Node.js, or TypeScript
  • Hands-on experience with AWS serverless architecture including Lambda, API Gateway, S3, and Amplify
  • Experience building and configuring Amazon QuickSight dashboards and data visualizations
  • Familiarity with Amazon SES for transactional and automated email workflows
  • Strong understanding of RESTful API design, data modeling, and cloud-native integration patterns, including third-party/ERP API integrations
  • Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (e.g., AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines (AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, or equivalent)
  • Experience designing role-based access control (RBAC) and security best practices (IAM, VPC, encryption, audit logging) for multi-tenant or multi-party applications
  • Solid skills in frontend/backend integration, application testing, and deployment automation
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration abilities within Agile/Scrum teams
Nice to Have
  • Experience with Amazon Bedrock, Amazon Textract, or other AWS AI/ML services
  • Familiarity with ERP or construction platform integrations (CMIC, Autodesk Construction Cloud, or similar)
  • AWS Certification (Developer Associate or Solutions Architect)
  • Experience with CloudFront CDN configuration and S3 static site hosting
  • Background in construction, insurance, or financial services industries

  • Time is one of our most precious commodities. Scalability implies being respectful of this and passionate about making the most efficient use of each and every one of our team members time.
  • "All Work is Strategic"
  • No matter how small a project or assignment appears, every single engagement is an opportunity for us to prove ourselves, build trust, and develop relationships that last and grow

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
