What you'll do:
- Lead circuit board and avionics subsystem designs for our next generation autonomous aircraft and its support equipment. This includes complex system architectures utilizing custom circuitry (power management, analog, digital, servos, microcontrollers, FPGAs, SoMs, sensors, radios, etc.)
- Support the design and integration of complex embedded systems and sensors which enable aircraft autonomy and AI
- Be responsible for part selection, schematic capture, simulation, analysis, verification, debugging, and release to production
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams (mechanical, embedded, software, manufacturing, supply chain, etc.)
- Manage your project timelines and deliverables
- Conduct and attend cross-functional design reviews
- Work closely with CAD engineering for PCB layout (Altium)
- Interface with customers, contractors, and other 3rd parties as it pertains to design execution of our products
- Provide feedback on other team work where applicable
- Mentor teammates when possible
- Help develop automated test solutions
- Proactively identify opportunities for improvement within hardware development projects, demonstrating initiative to propose and implement innovative solutions that enhance efficiency, quality, and overall project success and aircraft reliability
- Other duties as assigned
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering; or equivalent work experience
- Have contributed to a product design involving EE, ME, and SW engineering.
- You are experienced with circuit design, schematic capture, component selection, and circuit testing.
- Demonstrated track record of working hard, being a trustworthy teammate, holding yourself and others to high standards, and being kind to others.
- Demonstrated track record of assuming ownership over development processes and features and delivering outstanding outcomes
- Proven track record of successfully shipping products, showcasing the ability to navigate through development cycles, overcome obstacles, and deliver high-quality solutions to meet project deadlines and exceed client expectations in a fast-paced environment
- Proactively identify opportunities for improvement within hardware development projects, demonstrating initiative to propose and implement innovative solutions that enhance efficiency, quality, and overall project success and aircraft reliability
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience working on cutting-edge autonomous robotic systems
- Experience designing high reliability avionics subsystems compliant with military standards for avionics (MIL-STD 810, MIL-STD 461, etc.)
- Active DoD Security Clearance or ability to obtain
- Proven background in thriving within fast-paced environments, particularly within startup or R&D settings
- Demonstrated adaptability, agility, and the ability to innovate under pressure to meet dynamic project demands and drive successful outcomes.
