At AbsenceSoft, we’re transforming the employee experience. Our secure, intuitive technology helps employers bring humanity, certainty, and efficiency to some of the most complex moments in the workplace. Built by HR professionals for HR professionals, we’re proud of where we’ve been and even more excited about where we’re going.

AbsenceSoft University is our growing education platform for customers, partners, and employees, and we're looking for a Senior Director, Customer Education who's ready to get hands-on. This role sets the direction for AbsenceSoft's training and certification programs while directly contributing to the content itself. Reporting to the Chief Customer Officer and leading a small, growing team, it blends strategic direction with individual contribution — a great fit for a leader who wants to stay closely involved in the work rather than operate purely at the strategy level.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Set the strategy and content roadmap for AbsenceSoft University, building the calendar that turns priorities into fully developed courses and certifications.
  • Own the certification program end-to-end — exam design and content, renewal tracking, and the roadmap for new credentials — serving as final reviewer for all compliance-sensitive training material.
  • Hire, coach, and manage a small team, holding everyone — including yourself — to a high bar for performance and accountability.
  • Collaborate with the internal compliance team to ensure course content reflects current leave and accommodations law.
  • Partner with Product to keep training current as new features ship and ensure customers are properly enabled.
  • Oversee the learning platform, including its integration with internal systems and single sign-on for both employees and customers.
  • Report on program health and results to leadership, proactively escalating risks or delays.
  • Represent AbsenceSoft in industry and partner conversations related to leave and accommodations education.
  • Support organizational security and compliance controls across your role, team, and department.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • 7+ years of experience in customer education, training, or L&D, including a few years managing a team.
  • A proven track record of building or scaling a training or certification function at a B2B SaaS or technology company.
  • Comfort managing a certification program end-to-end: exam design, renewal tracking, and vendor relationships.
  • Hands-on experience running a learning management system — from course design through reporting — with platforms such as Skilljar, Docebo, or Absorb, including experience integrating that platform with Salesforce or another CRM.
  • Meaningful depth in leave and accommodations compliance is a strong plus — a CLMS or CPDM certification, or equivalent hands-on experience with FMLA, ADA, or state leave programs.
  • Also valuable: familiarity with DMEC or similar credentialing organizations, and experience partnering with legal or compliance teams to keep training current.
  • A genuine preference for building things yourself, comfortable operating hands-on while blending individual contribution with team leadership.
  • High personal standards for content quality and accuracy, especially where compliance is involved.
  • A proactive communicator who raises risks or delays early rather than waiting to be asked.
  • An adaptable operator, comfortable balancing long-term strategy with day-to-day content and program work.

  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
