Consilio’s Legal Management Consulting team works with corporate legal departments around the world to improve how they operate, manage work and adopt technology.

Our engagements span areas including CLM readiness, legal operating model design, legal operations technology selection and health checks, process and governance improvement, contracting transformation, Legal GenAI readiness and tool selection, use-case development and prompt libraries.

As a Consultant, you will take ownership of defined workstreams within client engagements. You will work directly with legal, legal operations and business stakeholders, undertake structured analysis and turn findings into practical recommendations and high-quality client deliverables.

You will be expected to manage your own work effectively, contribute actively to client discussions and support the development of junior team members.

ResponsibilitiesWhat you will do
  • Own and deliver defined workstreams across legal operations, legal technology, contracting transformation and Legal GenAI engagements.
  • Conduct current-state and readiness assessments covering organisation, process, technology, governance, data and ways of working.
  • Lead or co-lead client workshops and stakeholder interviews with legal, legal operations, procurement, technology and business stakeholders.
  • Translate stakeholder input and analysis into clear findings, recommendations, roadmaps and implementation priorities.
  • Support clients with CLM readiness, including assessment of contracting processes, policies and governance, templates and clause libraries, repositories, metadata, obligations, reporting requirements and technology dependencies.
  • Map and analyse legal and contracting processes and identify opportunities for simplification, standardisation, automation and improved governance.
  • Support legal operating model engagements covering service delivery, roles and responsibilities, governance, intake and triage, service catalogues, resourcing, technology and performance management.
  • Conduct legal operations technology assessments, health checks and selection exercises across areas such as CLM, ELM, matter management, intake, workflow, document management and related platforms.
  • Develop requirements, evaluation criteria, use cases, scoring frameworks and recommendations for technology selection exercises.
  • Evaluate Legal GenAI platforms and support readiness assessments, vendor selection, pilots and implementation planning.
  • Identify and prioritise GenAI use cases and develop prompt libraries, prompt-testing approaches, user guidance and supporting governance.
  • Own client deliverables from initial structure and analysis through to quality review with the engagement lead.
  • Manage assigned activities, timelines and dependencies and escalate issues where appropriate.
  • Provide direction and review work produced by Junior Consultants.
  • Contribute to proposals, statements of work, RFP responses and client presentations.
  • Develop reusable methodologies, accelerators, points of view, training materials and thought leadership.
  • Maintain awareness of developments across legal operations, CLM, legal technology and GenAI.
QualificationsWhat we are looking for
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in legal consulting, legal operations, legal technology, contract management, transformation, professional services or an in-house legal function.
  • A degree in law, business, finance, information technology, information systems, data science or another relevant discipline.
  • Strong consulting and analytical skills, including the ability to structure ambiguous problems and develop practical recommendations.
  • Experience conducting stakeholder interviews, workshops, requirements gathering or process analysis.
  • Strong written and spoken English and an ability to communicate complex topics clearly to both legal and non-legal audiences.
  • Experience producing high-quality client-facing reports, presentations and analyses.
  • Ability to manage a workstream, priorities and deliverables with appropriate oversight from an engagement lead.
  • Confidence working directly with senior stakeholders, including General Counsel, Heads of Legal Operations and functional leaders.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365, particularly PowerPoint and Excel.
  • A practical understanding of legal technology and the role technology plays within a legal operating model.
  • Demonstrable interest in and practical experience with generative AI, particularly its application to legal work.
  • A pragmatic, collaborative and commercially aware approach to consulting.
Helpful but not essential
  • Experience with CLM readiness, selection or implementation.
  • Exposure to ELM, matter management, intake, workflow, DMS or other legal operations platforms.
  • Experience conducting technology health checks or vendor selection exercises.
  • Hands-on experience with Legal GenAI platforms and the development or testing of prompt libraries.
  • Experience with contract management, process improvement, operating model design or legal transformation.
  • Change management experience or certification, for example Prosci.
  • Project management or business analysis qualifications.
  • A second language relevant to Consilio’s international client base.
