Our goal is to provide you with a comprehensive overview of what it’s like to work at Tempus and the chance to have a true impact. We hope that at the end of your internship, you leave with a deeper understanding and appreciation for Tempus’ profound goals and mission: to connect an entire ecosystem of real-world evidence to deliver real-time, actionable insights to physicians, providing critical information about the right treatments for the right patients, at the right time.

As a Summer Intern at Tempus, you will:

  • Collaborate with teams/colleagues in a fast-paced environment

  • Gain professional development & build relationships with peers from across the country

Anticipated Summer Project(s):

  • Tempus is a key partner in drug development and the application of AI, offering advanced analytical platforms and tools alongside high-quality clinical and molecular datasets. As an intern, you will join a team dedicated to helping our clients maximize the value of Tempus data, and facilitate the extraction of the most useful and cutting-edge insights. Given the inherent complexity of cancer and our data, Tempus data experts are essential to ensuring our partners quickly reach the most meaningful insights. As such, keeping our documentation up to date and well-maintained is a crucial step to providing such support. In this role, you will play a key part in migrating our client documentation to a more modern platform, learn to use Git, and develop programmatic workflows for documentation maintenance.

  • Additionally, if time allows, you will help enhance our agentic workflows. You will assist our engineering teams by testing and validating AI agents' responses to queries, ensuring they correctly utilize our extensive documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing an Advanced degree (Masters/PhD, graduating in Spring 2027 or Winter 2026) in a Quantitative or Computational field.

  • Computer Science, Data Science, Bioinformatics, Biomedical Engineering, or a related technical field. We also welcome students in Information Science or Technical Communications who possess a strong minor or background in programming and data analysis.

  • We are seeking a candidate with technical literacy and experience coding in R, or Python, as they’ll need to understand the analytical tools they are documenting.

  • Candidate should be process-oriented and interested in workflow development.

  • Candidates should be interested in AI agents and possess a basic understanding to evaluate how an AI Agent "thinks" when it parses documentation.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in a variety of settings and media.

  • Strong computer skills, including advanced knowledge of Google Suite and Gmail, preferred.

  • A self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as in collaboration with others in a fast-paced environment is critical. Be ready to fly the plane as you’re still building it!

Additional Details:

  • You will spend 9 or 11 weeks working in our Chicago office. The internship will be a hybrid, onsite 3 days/week with the option to work the remaining days remotely.

  • The program will start in early June and run through August.

  • A competitive hourly wage will be provided for the summer employment, and a relocation bonus to help offset some of the relocation costs and resources to help you find housing.
