Brown & Brown is seeking a Safety Loss Control Consultant to join our growing team!  This is a hybrid role, and you must sit within driving distance to Boston, MA.

 

The Senior Safety & Property Loss Control Consultant position is responsible for the provision of risk management, loss prevention, and safety related services to assist our customers in the identification and mitigation of safety related hazards with an emphasis on workers’ compensation, general liability, and automobile losses. 

 

How You Will Contribute: 

  • Conduct safety assessments at customer facilities including manufacturing, non-manufacturing occupancies such as hospitals, universities, real estate, retail, and process industries, etc. 

  • Assist customers in reducing actual and potential losses by recommending, implementing, and improving safety and loss control programs based on loss history, regulations, organizational needs, and industry “best practices. 

  • Work closely with the claims team and analytics group to review large losses, analyze loss trends, and develop service plans for customers to mitigate future losses. 

  • Manage relationships between insurance company loss control and customer by coordinating visits and service plans. 

  • Work with customers and insurers to review and prioritize insurers’ recommendations. Develop creative alternative, cost-effective solutions when possible and assist customers with preparing written responses to insurer risk improvement recommendations. 

  • Write blogs, white papers, and informative summaries on modern technologies or regulation changes. 

  • Develop and present webinars, training courses, seminars on various safety related topics for customers and account team members. 

  • Assist account teams with new business opportunities and renewals. 

  • Provide detailed COPE reports, including analysis of customer /prospect exposures and loss control recommendations. 

  • Prepare customers for upcoming Insurer property inspections. 

  • Provide consultation to customers in all areas of property protection as needed.  

  • Review simple project plans and provide design criteria guidance to customers based on NFPA and FM Global Standards. 

 

Skills & Experience to be Successful: 

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a field of engineering with 7 years of experience in the insurance industry is desired. Professional Engineer or Certified Fire Protection Specialist Designation is desired but not required. 

  • Knowledge of ‘all risk’ property loss control, experience in performing property field surveys on a variety of industrial occupancy and in conducting loss control consultations. Strong analytical skills are a must. 

  • Highly Protected Risk (HPR) experience is highly desirable; Ideal candidate should have an FM Global engineering background. 

  • The individual must have proficiency in Automatic Sprinkler System Hydraulic Calculations & Fire Protection Water Supply Analysis.  

  • Broad technical background, solid communication and time management skills including exceptional writing ability, organizational skills, and computer skills. 

  • Working knowledge of construction projects/builder risk. 

  • The individual must be familiar with NFPA and FM Global standards and be able to apply them as needed.  

  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations for general industry, loss control “best practices” and workers compensation programs is required. 

  • Knowledge of DOT, NFPA, ANSI. 

  • The position requires the consultant to be initiative-taking and work well without close supervision. The individual must be able to make decisions with and without established guidelines and to provide technical support to customers, brokers, and underwriters. 

  • The position requires excellent people skills (verbal and written) and provides a customer focused approach.  

  • CSP and/or safety related designation preferred. 

  • ARM and/or insurance related designation preferred. 

  • As this is a National Position, travel out of the region is required (30-50%). 

Pay Range

$150,000 - $175,000 Annual

The pay range provided above is made in good faith and based on our lowest and highest annual salary or hourly rate paid for the role and takes into account years of experience required, geography, and/or budget for the role.
