Research Scientist (Wildfire Modeling)
KCC seeks a highly qualified physical scientist with experience in the field of wildfires to join our growing Model Development Team. In this position, you will work closely with other scientists and engineers to develop our suite of advanced, atmospheric-peril catastrophe models with an emphasis on wildfire models.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with scientists and engineers to develop the technical aspects of wildfire hazard and impacts models
- Compile related literature and datasets required for model development
- Conduct model sensitivity and validation tests
- Provide documentation for technical publications
- Conduct post disaster field surveys after major events
Qualifications
- PhD in geophysical sciences or related field
- Knowledge and experience in modeling wildfire behavior and spread
- Knowledge and experience in advanced probability and statistical methods
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including an eye for professional presentation
- Programming experience in a widely used language like Python
- Ability to travel within the US or internationally with little advance notice
- Experience with GIS software (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS, etc.) is a plus
- Experience in catastrophe modeling a plus
- Knowledge of C# programming language a plus
- Some work experience (≤ 5 years) a plus
