We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Regulatory Safety and Compliance Manager to oversee product safety, regulatory compliance, and environmental health and safety (EHS) functions. This role ensures that all consumer products meet applicable federal, state, and international regulations, and that company operations comply with safety standards. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with strong technical knowledge and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally across product development, supply chain, quality, and legal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Regulatory Compliance (Product)
- Ensure products comply with relevant regulations and standards (e.g., FDA, CPSC, REACH, RoHS, Prop 65, EU MDR).
- Oversee regulatory submissions, technical documentation, and labeling compliance.
- Monitor and interpret new and emerging regulations in all markets where products are sold.
- Develop and maintain product regulatory dossiers and safety data sheets (SDS).
- Lead product risk assessments, hazard analysis, and safety reviews across the product lifecycle.
- Collaborate with R&D and Quality to embed safety into product design and manufacturing.
- Investigate product complaints or incidents related to consumer safety and implement corrective actions.
- Serve as the point of contact for regulatory agencies and third-party certification bodies.
- Manage workplace safety programs at manufacturing or distribution sites in compliance with OSHA and other relevant standards.
- Conduct or oversee safety audits, training programs, and emergency preparedness plans.
- Ensure documentation of safety policies, incident reporting, and compliance tracking.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Legal, Marketing, Engineering, Quality) to drive compliance across departments.
- Manage or mentor junior compliance or safety staff.
- Develop internal policies and SOPs for compliance and safety best practices.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Regulatory Affairs, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Engineering, Public Health, or related field.
- Advanced degree or certifications (e.g., RAC, CSP, CHMM, OSHA 30-hour) a plus.
- 5-8 years of experience in regulatory compliance, product safety, or EHS, preferably in a consumer goods environment.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. and international consumer product regulations.
- Proven track record of managing cross-functional regulatory or safety projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management capabilities.
- Ability to translate regulatory language into actionable business practices.
- Proficient with compliance software tools and documentation systems.
