Production Supervisor (6am - 6:30pm Sunday through Tuesday, every other Wednesday)

Job Description:

Position Summary:  

 

The Production Supervisor position is responsible and accountable for the efficient utilization of resources to  achieve production requirements and by focusing on continuous improvement activites to improve safety, quality, cost, and service. 

 

Primary Responsibilities and Duties: 

  • Provides recognition to employees Ensures training is provided for effective performance Proactively addresses issues with employee with supportive documentation Adheres to Company policies, procedures, and applicable budget requirements Conducts timely performance reviews Coordinates effective delegation of work assignments and training  

  • Engages in providing a safe working environment for the employees by actively participating in and encouraging the employees to participate in the S.E.E. Committee, other company sponsored safety programs. Take an active role as a Safety team member.  Continuously speak to operators about proactive measure to promote a safe work environment.   

  • Audits and manages the production processes and employees to ensure quality of production and adherence to established standards and work practices Monitors the accuracy of documentation and electronic transactions to ensure the accuracy of work order and inventory records. 

  • Works with a sense of urgency that enables production schedules to be meet while minimizing unnecessary costs related to downtime and labor and material variances; and without jeopardizing the health and safety of the general workforce and/or the quality and accuracy of production and without violating established work standards and ISO requirements. 

  • Maintains a clean and safe work area.  Wears required Personal Protective Equipment.  Performs duties in a safe manner and observes approved safety procedures.  Communicates potential hazards immediately to Manager  

  • Ensures that employees are actively standardizing their work area using 6S.  Update/Create the 6S program as needed.  

  • Engage in gemba walks and employee passdown information. Assist to develop CI plans and participate in kaizen activities for improving Business Systems, cost reductions, and eliminating waste in the operation. 

  • Implement quality improvements using the 8D problem solving methods. 

  • Work closely with the schedulers to minimize unevenness in the schedule and develops action plans with the schedulers to act upon any schedule interruptions. 

  • Ensure employees are completing their training in ETQ and SumTotal. Monitor these training systems to make sure we do not have any employees in late status  

  • Work with Production Planner to assist with production order processing and execution. 

  • Conduct Daily passdown meetings within shifts. 

  • Train operators in SAP Ensure all necessary transactions and paperwork is filled out accurately and in a timely manner  

  • Work with Manager and Quality to assist in conducting internal Quality Audits and support during customer and ISO audits.  

  • Conduct new hire on-boarding training. 

  • Utilize Camline to ensure our production processes are in control and operators are responding to flagged items. 

  • Create and update standard operating procedures Ensuring all SOP’s on the floor, are accurate and up to date.  

  • Conduct critical to quality audits with operators, to ensure operators are following critical process steps and following SOPs. 

  • Utilize the Ignition system to help drive smarter operations. 

  • Provide support to R&D projects and DOE’s with Engineers. 

  • Demonstrate the ability to troubleshoot, identify and resolve non-routine problems with process equipment. 

  • Work with Engineers to create/update Response Flow Checklists. 

  • Ensure process records and SAP transactions are being completed by shifts responsible for the process. 

  • Make sure projects are completed on time.  

  • Assist the Production Manager with day to day operations to ensure we are always thriving for ex 

  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Education, Experience, Physical Requirements): 

  • Ability to make suggestions and informed decisions quickly. 

  • Possess strong organizational, leadership and time management skills 

  • Highly motivated and possesses superior follow-up and follow-through skills 

  • The ability to motivate, coach, and lead hourly employees  

  • Effective communication (both written and verbally) and interpersonal skills  

  • Proficiency with computers, including the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)  

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complexity  

  • Demonstrate sound leadership skills with a sense of urgency to obtain results  

  • Have a critical eye for Safety and improvements in all areas of responsibility  

  • Must be willing to work flexible hours as required by the business needs 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business Management preferred HS diploma or GED is required.

  • Minimum 5 years supervisory work experience 

  • Ability to read, understand and write effective work instructions and perform math computations and computer data entry 

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs., climb a ladder up to 15 ft. and walk and stand during entire shift 

  • Good visual ability to detect quality defects 

  • Ability to work flexible schedule 

  • Works in a manufacturing environment
