Our team ensures that our mobile, desktop, and app platforms deliver the digital experience that our customers expect.  We do this through customer insights, analytics, and testing to build a strong innovation pipeline for the future and to bring products and solutions to market seamlessly. We utilize online merchandising and campaigns executed by both humans and automated tools to convert new and returning website visitors into customers. We work end-to-end with our sales, merchandising, finance, logistics and technology teams to provide a world-class, holistic digital experience, growing profitable results in a fun and rewarding work environment. The Product Manager, Digital plays a key role in shaping and improving digital customer experiences across eCommerce platforms, including mobile, desktop, and app experiences. This role is responsible for defining product priorities, managing the product backlog, translating customer and business needs into actionable requirements, and partnering closely with engineering, UX, analytics, data science, and business stakeholders to deliver digital solutions that improve customer experience, engagement, conversion, and retention.


This role leverages customer insights, analytics, market trends, and business priorities to recommend product improvements and support the execution of the digital roadmap. The Product Manager, Digital applies seasoned product management judgment to anticipate roadblocks, solve complex problems, influence cross-functional teams, and deliver digital capabilities that support business growth and operational effectiveness. The role may also identify practical opportunities to leverage AI productivity tools and AI/ML-enabled product capabilities to improve product outcomes, decision-making, and delivery efficiency.


What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Drive product strategy and roadmap for paid media channels including Google, Meta/Facebook, LinkedIn, retail media, product feeds, audience signals, measurement feedback loops, and conversion optimization.
  • Partner with eCommerce, Marketing, Engineering, Analytics, and Data Science teams to build scalable capabilities that improve sponsored product discovery, strengthen first-party data and conversion signals, optimize measurement feedback loops, and drive profitable customer outcomes.
  • Develop product and data feed capabilities that help AI-powered search tools and digital agents discover Staples products and drive transactions.
  • Define, manage, and prioritize the product backlog for assigned digital products, platforms, features, or capabilities.
  • Collaborate with leadership and business stakeholders to align product priorities with digital strategy, customer needs, and business objectives.
  • Translate customer insights, analytics, market trends, and stakeholder input into user stories, requirements, acceptance criteria, and product recommendations.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact between business stakeholders, engineering teams, UX, analytics, data science, and external partners.
  • Prioritize user stories, bugs, enhancements, and technical work based on customer value, business impact, team capacity, dependencies, and delivery timelines.
  • Partner with engineering and UX teams through Agile ceremonies, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, product reviews, testing, and release readiness.
  • Monitor product performance using OKRs, KPIs, customer behavior data, feedback, and digital analytics to identify opportunities for optimization.
  • Identify and resolve complex product issues, dependencies, and roadblocks while escalating highly complex or out-of-policy matters as appropriate.
  • Support discovery, experimentation, solution validation, and continuous improvement efforts to enhance digital product performance.
  • Use AI productivity tools, such as Microsoft Copilot, Claude, or similar platforms, to accelerate product deliverables, including discovery synthesis, requirements development, backlog refinement, and stakeholder communications.
  • Partner with engineering, analytics, data science, and UX teams to evaluate AI/ML-enabled opportunities, clarify desired customer and business outcomes, and support responsible testing and validation.
  • Mentor less experienced team members by sharing product management practices, Agile knowledge, and digital product expertise.

What’s needed- Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Technology, Product Management, Information Systems, Computer Science, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of related experience in product management, with a focus on eCommerce or digital products.
  • Experience managing product backlogs, user stories, requirements, acceptance criteria, or feature prioritization.
  • Experience working with engineering, UX, analytics, data science, or other technical teams to deliver digital products or platform enhancements.
  • Experience managing the end-to-end lifecycle of digital products from conception through development, launch, and iteration.
  • Experience using customer insights, digital analytics, KPIs, OKRs, or performance metrics to inform product decisions.
  • Experience managing multiple priorities, dependencies, and stakeholders across cross-functional initiatives.
  • Experience preparing written product documentation, stakeholder communications, roadmap updates, or product recommendations.
  • Solid analytical and quantitative skills; strong bias towards data-based decision making


What’s needed- Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Professional certifications in Agile methodologies (e.g., Certified Scrum Master (CSM), SAFe Agilist, or PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)) or product management certifications (e.g., AIPMM Certified Product Manager).
  • 2+ years supporting paid media channels, platforms, or products with experience in audience targeting, conversion optimization, campaign performance, and product feeds.
  • Experience with CDPs, Adobe Analytics, Adobe Target, personalization/testing tools, and product feed management platforms such as Feedonomics.
  • Experience translating paid media, eCommerce, or data product requirements into technical delivery plans using Jira and Confluence.
  • Experience managing digital products across mobile, desktop, app, or eCommerce platforms.
  • Experience with A/B testing, experimentation, product performance measurement, conversion optimization, or customer journey analysis.
  • Experience working with AI/ML-enabled products, personalization, automation, search, recommendations, decisioning, or similar data-driven digital capabilities.
  • Experience partnering with data science or engineering teams to define success metrics, test AI/ML outputs, validate solution quality, or support responsible iteration after launch.
  • Experience using AI productivity tools to support product discovery, requirements development, backlog management, analysis, or stakeholder communications.
  • Experience working in B2B, retail, supply chain, office products, commercial eCommerce, or related industries.

The salary range represents the expected compensation for this role at the time of posting. The specific base pay may be influenced by a variety of factors to include the candidate's experience, skill set, education, geography, business considerations, and internal equity. In addition to base pay, this role may be eligible for bonuses, or other forms of variable compensation.
