Lead product engineering efforts from concept to production, ensuring quality, efficiency, and timely delivery through collaboration and problem-solving.
Introduction
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Product Engineer to specialize in leading a specific product or group of products from concept, through design, production, post launch sustainment, and end of manufacturing. This role bridges the gap between design and manufacturing, ensuring product quality, efficiency, and reliability throughout the production lifecycle. Lastly, this person is responsible for the delivery of the product(s) to market on time, on budget, and at expected high quality.
What You Will Do:
- Provide technical leadership for assigned products from concept through production lifecycle.
- Collaborate closely with iRobot and 3rd party design, hardware, software, compliance, process, test, reliability, manufacturing, packaging, and marketing to deliver the product to market, solve product issues, and production problems.
- Lead the investigation, development, and implementation of solutions to address product design and manufacturing discrepancies.
- Oversee product testing and validation to ensure compliance with quality standards and reliability requirements.
- Monitor production performance metrics and proactively address potential risks.
- Act as the technical liaison between cross-functional teams, including suppliers and production teams, to maintain seamless communication and product integrity.
- Create and maintain documentation for product specifications, processes, and issue resolution.
- Deliver product to market on time and with high quality.
To Be Successful You Will Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Mechanical, Electrical, or Software Engineering (or a related field).
- Proven experience in product engineering or related roles.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication skills for interfacing with multidisciplinary teams.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes, reliability testing, and quality control methodologies.
- Proficiency in engineering software and tools relevant to product design and analysis.
Preferred Skills:
- 10+ years of engineering leadership experience
- Experience with both in-house and outsourced production environments.
- Ability to manage complex projects in a fast-paced environment.
