Position Description:
Develops PL/SQL and Extract Transfer and Load (ETL) code using Oracle and Informatica. Works in an Agile environment to deliver and release valuable source code to applications and users, using JIRA. Performs coding in programming languages -- Shell scripting, Python, and PL/SQL. Deploys applications in a DevOps environment using Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines and practices. Develops and migrates applications into Cloud-based platforms -- Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Azure.
Primary Responsibilities:
Supports and improves applications in production.
Delivers business value with Agile practices to improve data product.
Confers with systems analysts and software engineers/developers to design systems and obtain information on project limitations and capabilities.
Develops and oversees software system testing and validation procedures, programs, and documentation.
Mentors junior team members.
Performs database design and performance optimization.
Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Data Engineer (or closely related occupation) designing, developing, and delivering multiple business critical projects for U.S. based financial services.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Data Engineer (or closely related occupation) designing, developing, and delivering multiple business critical projects for U.S. based financial services.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) performing requirements analysis, design, coding, and unit testing of scalable, distributed, and fault-tolerant applications in LINUX environments, using Snowflake, Oracle, and Informatica Power Designer; testing case documentation and executing unit testing, using ICEDQ and Pyflowx; and performing logical and physical database design using SAP Power Designer.
DE performing Relational and Analytical database design using Data Modeling tool -- SAP Power Designer.
DE building ETL data pipelines using Informatica Power Center (Designer, Workflow Manager, Workflow Monitor, and Repository Manager); and designing data warehousing and analytical solutions using Snowflake, Power BI, UNIX shell scripting, and SQL and Oracle databases.
DE performing software application testing to meet functional and non-functional requirements, using ICEDQ, Python, and Shell scripting.
Salary: $152,500.00 - $166,000.00/year.
