Position Description:
Builds solutions using Python. Leverages Snowflake and Amazon S3 as integral components of Cloud data storage to create efficient, scalable, and secure data pipelines to serve analytics and reporting needs. Uses AWS services such as EMR, EC2, and CloudFormation to build, coordinate, and scale big data processing and analytics pipelines. Leverages PL/SQL, Python, Shell Scripting, SQL, and Linux to design and optimize data workflows and infrastructure.
Primary Responsibilities:
Architects, develops, and maintains high-quality data platforms optimized for quant consumption.
Builds and designs solutions for data warehouses with large data sets.
Confers with systems analysts and other software engineers/developers to design systems and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces.
Develops and conducts software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Data Engineer (or closely related occupation) developing systematic common data lakes to support reporting and analytical needs by using Python, Unix, and SQL in a Cloud platform environment.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Data Engineer (or closely related occupation) developing systematic common data lakes to support reporting and analytical needs by using Python, Unix, and SQL in a Cloud platform environment.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) gathering insights, developing new processes, performing calculations, identifying anomalies, and producing new reporting capabilities using PowerBI or Tableau; traversing and extracting data from database schemas across diverse content sets using Talend, Alteryx, or SQL.
DE designing and developing data warehouse applications according to business user requirements using Snowflake, Oracle, MySQL, or Toad; and implementing ETL jobs to load and transform data into database tables and scheduling using Autosys.
DE performing data analysis - querying large data sets (1M+ rows) to detect patterns, analyze trends, and provide insights and recommendations to influence future designs and requirements using SQL or Python; and establishing S3, IAM, CloudWatch, or Docker in non-production and production environments.
DE enhancing, developing, testing, and deploying production model code using MATLAB or Python; and building Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) processes for user interface applications (financial, web, and mobile) using Jenkins, Stash, or Git.
Salary: $153,000.00 - $166,000.00 /year.
