The Role
Are you an engineer with a strong foundation in data engineering and a growing interest in product strategy? Join our team as a technical hands-on partner with our Product Owner. You will apply your technical expertise to define product development in an Agile Scrum environment. This role is ideal for someone looking to bridge engineering and product leadership, with hands-on exposure to cloud technologies, data pipelines, and data-centric design.
The Expertise and Skills You Bring
- 8 years of experience in software or data engineering. Ideally in financial domain.
- Deep understanding and proficiency in SQL.
- Experience using snowflake and Oracle databases
- Demonstrated passion for data with a strong track record in advanced data analysis.
- Supports data-driven decision-making through analysis of system performance, user behavior, and feature usage.
- Collaborates with Product Owner to define technical requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
- Participates in Agile Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Assists in backlog grooming and sprint tracking using Jira and Confluence.
- Translates data analysis into actionable product improvements.
- Coordinates with engineering, QA, and design teams to ensure alignment on sprint goals and deliverables.
- Contribute to research, analysis, and data visualization efforts.
- Ability to tell a story through data visualization is a plus
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, and data modeling.
- Familiarity with AWS services, DevOps
- Understanding of Agile Scrum methodologies and software development lifecycle.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
The Team
The Principle, Data Engineer will be part of a development team focused on building and supporting a scalable data lake for financial data. The data is used throughout Fidelity's Asset Management organization to make business decisions, support trading, and launch new products like cyrpto currency based mutual funds.
The base salary range for this position is $107,000-216,000 USD per year.Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors.
Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
