All JerseySTEM roles are pro-bono (unpaid) positions.JerseySTEM is a mission-driven professional network of pro-bono contributors dedicated to improving access to STEM education and career pathways for underserved middle school girls in New Jersey.
Members contribute their professional skills and leverage their networks in service of the organization’s gender-equity agenda.Membership is a minimum six-month commitment of approximately six flexible hours per week and includes a $100 refundable deposit, returned after six months of active membership. K–12 educators, retirees, veterans, interns, and students are exempt from the deposit.
OverviewThis is a pro bono volunteer position.
JerseySTEM is seeking a skilled Project Manager to help implement and execute transformational organization outcomes. The candidate will have demonstrated expertise and application of Agile methodologies, techniques and frameworks, a successful track record of driving and facilitating teams, commitment to continuous learning and mindset of relentless improvement.
Responsibilities- Attend the meeting of the team you will be supporting (weekly or daily).
- Create user stories to describe work items, with clear descriptions and acceptance criteria.
- Prioritize stories for the backlog and keep the team organized and focused.
- Conduct weekly meetings with stake holders and monitor the health of the Kanban board.
- Encourage team members to utilize JIRA for task management.
- Drive open communication with team members.
- Be the servant leader for the team members, mentoring/assisting them when needed.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and be “THE CHAMPION OF CHANGE”.
Technical Qualifications:
- Experience using Jira, Kanban or Sprint Board, Slack
- Excellent communication, analytical, mentoring and problem-solving skills
Minimum time commitment: 4 - 6 hours/ week, for a minimum 6 months
