The Opportunity
The Senior Director, Marketing Planning, Reporting & Effectiveness is a key leadership member of the global Rapid7 marketing and communications team and part of the cross functional go-to-market team which includes sales, business operations and customer success. This role will be instrumental in developing and executing strategic planning, key initiatives and marketing effectiveness programs in collaboration with cross-functional teams. Additionally, this leader will manage the overall global marketing budget, metrics and ongoing measurement and effectiveness of marketing investments for both lead generation and brand.
We’re seeking a proven leader with a diverse background, who will be responsible for driving individual and team productivity through enablement and coaching to ensure effectiveness and transparency within marketing and with our key business partners. The goal is to ensure our global marketing and communications teams are maximizing their effectiveness in support of our sales, customer health, brand and revenue goals. This includes planning, enablement, and orchestrating cross-functional initiatives across marketing, and as appropriate with sales, customer success, product marketing, business operations and services.

The Role
Drive transformation agenda of new marketing operating model in support of the company’s journey to $1b+ with global customer impact
Manage the overall global marketing budget and understanding of marketing investment impact; including development of business cases for further investment to drive business goals.
Develop marketing measurement framework and dashboard to improve visibility of investment performance across marketing pipeline; partner with teams across marketing to consolidate and report results with a structured cadence, drive awareness of investment results with key partners
Partner with finance on evolution of investment model to support marketing pipeline with rolling portfolio perspective; develop perspective for emerging markets as we test and learn into new markets and customer segments
Support Growth marketing teams on analysis across pipeline to understand strength of GTM motion and opportunities for further improvement; including pipeline contribution by source, efficiency, volume, quality of leads, etc.
Improve communications and planning across marketing teams to drive better alignment, teaming and cross-team support; revamp weekly leadership meetings, monthly “all hands” and ad hoc events focused on education, alignment and change menagement
Lead the development of strategic marketing planning in alignment with marketing, sales, business operations, customer success and product marketing (annual process and ongoing review and measurement against goals)
Support development of tactical planning with centers of excellence aligned to strategy and marketing investment
Develop and help execute the implementation of strategic marketing initiatives
Pilot key marketing initiatives with cross-functional teams, e.g. a cross-functional pipeline effectiveness team in partnership with sales leadership
Define and run marketing effectiveness programs, including global planning process, process improvement redesign, global marketing dashboard, reporting and communications process
Support the build out of new functional capabilities within marketing including integrated marketing, campaign management, channel partner marketing, centers of excellence model, etc.
Work with marketing leadership, Information Technology and Business Operations to unify processes and systems that drive improved efficiencies and automation in support of business goals
Act as a strong advocate marketing transformation, education and the value to across the organization
Qualifications and Traits

A business-savvy leader with 15+ years of experience in managing teams directly and indirectly across different disciplines to drive business results
Significant experience developing and leading strategic planning and operational excellence initiatives and strong negotiation skills
Experience with financial reporting, budget management and analytics
Demonstrated relationship building and leadership ability to work cross-functionally with areas such as sales, product, marketing, customer success, business operations and finance teams, to create measurable impact
Strong verbal, written, and visual communication and presentation skills to work with all levels in the organization, including executive level presence and strong EQ
Strong understanding of organizational process design and related outcomes, including driving workflow, reporting, and measurement; ability to translate business objectives to actionable and measurable strategies
Excellent knowledge of performance evaluation and change management principles, with outstanding communication and messaging skills
Agent of change who can bring together different perspectives in a collaborative way to drive to a common goal and provide business value; ability to work within a transformative culture, focusing on high priorities and speed to market with an agile mindset
Passion for leading people, including the ability to work with diverse skill sets; proven success building, coaching and developing high performing teams
Solid background in project/program management and successful implementation of major initiatives

Exceptional organizational skills; ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks seamlessly

Background in SaaS required; experience in security or technology solutions highly desirable
Background in one of the following areas preferred; Marketing, Corporate Communications, Customer Success
Willingness to travel as appropriate, including international travel
Boston, MA location preferred; however, another Rapid7 office location or a remote location within the US for the right candidate is possible
Education: Finance / Strategy / Entrepreneurship/MIS (Bachelor’s minimum; MBA preferred)
