Company Description

For more than 70 years, Senior Metal Bellows has been pushing the limits of innovation—designing and building custom-engineered metal bellows for industries that demand the best: aerospace, defense, energy, and beyond.

We’re not just making parts—we’re making solutions no one else can. And we want you to be part of it.

Job Description

In this role, you’ll play a key part in solving real manufacturing challenges, improving processes, and ensuring high-quality products reach our customers.

This role requires a high level of independence, technical capability, business awareness, and commitment to established engineering processes. You will be the main point of contact across multiple shifts for production support.

What You'll Do...

  • Provide hands-on technical support to production personnel by clarifying work instructions, proactively identifying and addressing potential issues to prevent defects, and assisting with day-to-day technical and process-related questions.

  • Support Material Review Board (MRB) and Returned Material Authorization (RMA) activities, including technical evaluation and disposition of nonconforming materials.

  • Lead root cause investigations using structured problem-solving methods such as 5-Why analysis, Fishbone diagrams, and data-driven analysis.

  • Develop and implement containment, corrective, and preventive actions (CAPA) to address quality issues and prevent recurrence.

  • Evaluate and define technically sound, compliant rework or salvage methods when necessary.

  • Prepare and process Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) related to corrective actions, drawing updates, tooling modifications, and process improvements.

  • Analyze manufacturing and quality data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for process improvement.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with production, quality, supply chain, and engineering teams to resolve issues and enhance manufacturing processes.

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing defects and improving process stability.

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, reports, and work instructions to support investigations, corrective actions, and process updates.

Qualifications

What You Bring....

  • At least 3 years experience in manufacturing, mechanical, or quality engineering.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field from an ABET-accredited program.

  • Strong understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Experience with structured problem-solving methods and root cause analysis.

  • Exposure to manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, heat treating, testing, inspection, or similar processes preferred.

  • Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma concepts, and basic statistical analysis.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to work in cross-functional teams.

  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and grow in a manufacturing engineering environment.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and collaborate with production operators, engineers, and leadership.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
