About the Role...

Reporting to the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), we are searching for a Manager / Sr. Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to lead the planning and analysis for the Therapeutics functional area at Valo. We are looking for a candidate with the experience, agility, and influence to manage annual budget and quarterly forecasting processes spanning a complex biopharma and software development organization.  This is a hybrid role reporting to the office 2-3 days per week. 

As a functional area Lead, the candidate will operate at all levels of Therapeutics, building a strong working relationship with Valo executive leaders and business area managers to develop robust, dynamic financial plans that align to Valo company strategy and support the achievement of key business objectives.  The candidate will be technically strong and take pride in high-quality analysis, drawing upon advanced financial acumen to ensure the integrity of the financial models underpinning the planning processes.  The candidate will contribute to the development and ongoing improvement of planning models and processes.  The candidate will lead strategic planning for the Therapeutics functional areas ranging from early drug discovery to partnerships.

What You’ll Do…
  • Lead the annual budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning processes for the Valo Therapeutics business functions, partnering with business stakeholders and the Director of FP&A to meet process deadlines and established targets
  • Develop strategic analyses to inform Valo Executive Leadership Team decisions
  • Collaborate with the Director of FP&A and VP of Finance to and provide support and analysis to support strategic initiatives including financing scenarios and other business development efforts
  • Create and maintain program level financial tracking and reporting that empowers business leaders to actively manage functional spend within budget
  • Prepare monthly variance analysis of actuals to forecast and budget, explain and investigate any significant discrepancies and understand key business drivers
  • Contribute to architecting best-in-class FP&A processes that deliver high-quality data and analytics while adapting to a rapidly developing, multi-functional business model
  • Influencing a diverse set of cross-functional business units by providing strong customer service, delivering actionable strategic insights, and fostering an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders.
What You Bring…
  • Proactive leader exhibiting influencing capabilities with business partners and a willingness to maintain open and transparent communication across the organization
  • Bachelor’s degree with a background in Finance, Accounting, Management Consulting or related field; MBA highly preferred
  • 4-8 years of experience in an FP&A-related role, preferably in the Life Science industry
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills required. Familiarity with Adaptive Insights or other financial planning software preferred; NetSuite experience also highly valued
  • Strong communication skills. Seen as credible and reliable for subject matter expertise and leadership, adaptable and flexible to situational needs, and able to bring good judgment to influence the outcome.  Develops and leverages cross-functional relationships to facilitate the execution of operational goals.
  • Ability to quickly develop presentations that “tell a story” by communicating data in a way that a non-finance audience can understand and act on.  
  • Proven customer service orientation, technical, collaboration, and influencing skills.
  • Passion for accelerating the creation of life-changing medical treatments for patients and the motivation to learn, grow and take on the challenging goals needed to deliver on the Valo vision.
