The Manager, Social & Culture is a creative and strategic role focused on how Toast shows up in culture across marketing. This person brings strong creative judgment, cultural awareness, and a clear point of view, and knows how to turn insight into ideas that resonate with the hospitality industry.
While the role is primarily social focused today, over time, this role will help shape social-first ideas that can scale into broader brand moments, experiences, and channels as the brand and team evolve.
This is not a publishing or calendar management role. It is a role for someone who thinks in ideas, understands culture, and cares deeply about creative craft and relevance.
About this roll (Responsibilities)*Set the Creative and Cultural Direction for Social
- Own the creative point of view for Toast social channels, with a strong emphasis on short form video and creator driven formats.
- Identify cultural moments, behaviors, and trends within hospitality and internet culture and determine if and how Toast should participate.
- Bring strong taste and judgment to creative decisions, including what not to do.
Develop Social as a Strategic Creative Engine
- Generate original, social-first ideas rooted in hospitality culture and real operator experiences.
- Help shape ideas that start on social media but have the potential to extend into broader brand moments, experiences, or channels over time.
- Use social as a testing ground for creative ideas, formats, and points of view.
Oversee Craft, Quality, and Performance
- Ensure social content is high quality, culturally relevant, and creatively strong.
- Balance speed with craft, knowing when raw and imperfect is the right creative choice.
- Use performance signals to inform creative direction and iteration, without chasing trends or vanity metrics.
Act as a Creative Partner Across the Organization
- Collaborate closely with brand, product marketing, comms, and influencer teams to inject cultural relevance and creative thinking into broader initiatives.
- Contribute to writers room style working sessions and creative reviews.
- Serve as a cultural and creative barometer for the brand, flagging opportunities, risks, and moments worth engaging in.
Champion the Hospitality Point of View
- Ensure Toast social reflects the realities, pressures, humor, pride, and rituals of hospitality work.
- Advocate for operator voices and stories in ways that feel authentic, respectful, and earned.
- You are a creative thinker who is deeply embedded in social media culture and current events.
- You have 6+ years of experience in social media, brand marketing, creative strategy, or content development.
- You have strong creative instincts and can clearly articulate ideas to designers, creators, and stakeholders.
- You understand the internet and hospitality culture deeply and can explain why something works, not just that it is trending.
- You are comfortable operating in ambiguity and helping shape a function that is still evolving.
- You care deeply about craft, tone, and point of view.
- Experience in hospitality, food media, or creator led brands is a plus.

The base salary range for this role is listed below. The starting salary will be determined based on skills and experience. In addition to base salary, our total rewards components include cash compensation (overtime, bonus/commissions, if eligible), benefits, and equity (if eligible).
