Job Summary:
As an Engineering Manager for the Systems and Data Architecture teams within USRM Claims Technology, you will lead the engineering teams responsible for the Guidewire ClaimCenter platforms that power Liberty Mutual's claims organization. You will provide people leadership, delivery accountability, and technical guidance across teams focused on platform migration to Guidewire SaaS (Pathfinder), Tier 1 priorities, and engineering enablement. Operating at the intersection of platform engineering and delivery excellence, you will play a critical role in ensuring our ClaimCenter ecosystem is stable, scalable, and positioned to support our 2026 and 2027 transformation goals.

The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, and develop engineering teams responsible for the Guidewire ClaimCenter application and database platforms, ensuring delivery against program commitments and platform health objectives
- Partner with Solutions Architects and Product Owners to align team priorities to the Pathfinder program, Tier 1 investments, and engineering enablement roadmap
- Monitor team effectiveness, address productivity issues, and remove roadblocks to keep delivery on track
- Provide technical guidance and coaching to senior team members (Solution Engineers, Principal Software Engineers, and DBAs), fostering a culture of engineering excellence, SRE practices, and continuous improvement
- Own performance management, professional development, and career growth for direct reports; conduct timely and meaningful performance reviews
- Manage hiring, onboarding, and vendor/contractor coordination to maintain a high-performing, appropriately staffed team
- Advocate for the reduction of technical debt and proactive management of platform risk within the ClaimCenter ecosystem
- Champion Agile/SAFe delivery practices and contribute to PI planning, retrospectives, and cross-team coordination within the broader Claims Technology portfolio
- Collaborate with technology and business partners to ensure platform capabilities meet current and future claims operational needs
- Contribute to financial planning and total cost of ownership management for aligned platforms and investments
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in software engineering and delivery best practices, including work planning, execution tracking, team metrics, and operational oversight.
- Knowledge of technology concepts, strategies and methodologies typically acquired through a Bachelor`s or Master`s Degree in technical or business discipline and a minimum of five years' experience in a practice relevant domain including delivering software solutions in an agile environment.
- 3 years in a leadership role preferred.
- Able to manage complex technology development concepts, capabilities and maturity.
- Requires excellent analytical ability, consultative, communication, presentation and management skills, strong judgment and ability to effectively liaise with cross functional stakeholders and optimize teams.
- Demonstrated ability to operate collaboratively and build consensus. In-depth knowledge of technology standards and guidelines; knowledge of management concepts, practices and techniques; thorough knowledge of business functions and operations, objectives and strategies.
