Giga is building gigawatts of AI data centers to hasten a future of intelligence and abundance. We build data centers fast and at scale by combining the capabilities of an equipment supplier, engineering firm, general contractor, and real estate developer under one roof. Our team moves quickly and thinks practically. If you're ready to make an impact in an industry that matters, we're looking for people like you.
- The Pace: We're building at a speed most companies talk about but never actually operate at. If you've been bored somewhere else, you won't be here.
- The Impact: Every person at Giga touches the work that matters. No layers, no waiting for approval chains. You'll see your fingerprints on what we ship.
- The Team: A team of operators defining the future of AI infrastructure. We recruit A-players from the most innovative companies in the world, and they choose Giga because the work here means more.
- The Moment: AI doesn't run without power, and that's us. Giga is the picks and shovels behind the AI revolution. This industry is about to explode, and you'll be in the room where it's already happening.
We are seeking a Lead Mechanical Product Engineer to own the mechanical design and performance of our Mechanical product offerings. This person will be the US based lead creating the bridge between the Engineer team and our Product Team in China to help guide products from requirements and design through manufacturing, testing, and field improvement. They will also provide technical support for both our in-house engineering team and prospective customers looking to purchase our products, helping them select and integrate the right solution for their facility.
The role combines hands-on engineering, product ownership, and customer-facing applications support. It requires strong judgment across refrigeration, liquid cooling, airflow, and the mechanical integration of data center equipment.
Where you'll workWe are an in-office culture — velocity matters when you're building physical infrastructure, and the best decisions happen in the room. This role is ideally based in our San Francisco, Long Beach, or Houston offices, with full-time onsite expectations outside of bi-weekly WFH Fridays.
That said, we will make exceptions for truly exceptional talent if you live outside one of our hubs. If you're the right person for this role, we'll have a conversation about what works.

- Define, and review product testing, factory acceptance criteria, and corrective actions. Use field and customer feedback to improve the products.
- Meet with prospective customers to understand cooling loads, site conditions, operating requirements, and integration constraints.
- Recommend product configurations and help prepare technical proposals, specifications, submittals, responses to customer questions, and engineering input for bids.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
- At least 5-7 years of experience designing or engineering HVAC, refrigeration, liquid cooling, or other thermal equipment.
- Demonstrated ownership of a mechanical product or complex system through design release, production, and issue resolution.
- Strong knowledge of heat transfer, refrigeration, hydronics, pumps, piping, airflow, and component selection.
- Experience producing and reviewing engineering calculations, schematics, drawings, and technical specifications.
- Ability to explain technical tradeoffs clearly to customers and work across engineering, sales, manufacturing, and supplier teams.
- Experience with data center or other mission-critical cooling applications.
- Experience with air-cooled chillers, cooling distribution units, free cooling, glycol systems, or high-density compute environments.
- Familiarity with product testing, factory acceptance testing, commissioning, and field troubleshooting.
- Experience working with external manufacturing partners and managing design changes across product variants.
We value people who take ownership, raise risks early, communicate directly, and follow through. Incomplete information is part of the job. Make the best decision you can, document it, and adjust as the facts change. Move quickly on reversible decisions and take more care when security, safety, financial, employee, or customer risk is involved.
