JOB SUMMARY

The Indoor Section Grower independently monitors and maintains annual and perennial crops in a climate-controlled greenhouse. This position utilizes chemicals, fertilizers, and biologicals to encourage, enhance, and protect high-quality crop growth.


Qualifications

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Independently manage an assigned greenhouse or sections with some supervision.
  • Monitor annual and perennial crops for proper watering, fertilizer, and pest control.
  • Collaborate with Indoor Growing Manager on nutrition management options and solutions.
  • Apply the appropriate amount of chemicals, fertilizers, and biologicals to crops to protect against disease or insects or to enhance growth.
  • Record information about plants and plant growth using Microsoft Office products.
  • Evaluate data to identify crop challenges.
  • Identify measures to increase effective outcomes related to crop growth.
  • Monitor and control greenhouse temperature and humidity to control crop growth.
  • Independently execute growing tasks with minimal supervision.

OTHER DUTIES

  • Clean and maintain work areas.
  • Confer with supervisor and management to implement operational decisions.
  • Execute the duties of the position in alignment with the Company Mission and Conduct Policies.
  • Use technology as required by the position.
  • Complete required annual trainings as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in horticulture or equivalent experience required.
  • 1+ years proven experience growing annual and perennial crops in a commercial greenhouse required.
  • Experience with fertilizers required.
  • Massachusetts Pesticide License a plus

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Some knowledge of biologics, fertilizers, and other chemicals related to crop maintenance.
  • Knowledge of greenhouse equipment and operations.
  • Experience with Argus/Qcom systems a plus.
  • Familiar with production greenhouse growing schedules, and applications.
  • Solid plant knowledge with an emphasis on annuals and bedding plants.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent data analytics and reporting skills.
  • Basic math skills.
