Job Description:

The Role

This is a key leadership position which will head the Fraud Risk Management function across the Fidelity enterprise. The role will be responsible for driving an effective 2nd line risk oversight function for fraud, in close partnership with 1st line Fraud Operations teams and Business Units across the firm.  This position is for a proven leader who is looking for a dynamic and challenging opportunity to lead the strategic development and execution of a robust Fraud Risk function.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

This role requires expertise in fraud risk management and broader operational risk management programs. Candidates should be adept at prioritizing fraud risk focus areas in the deployment of enterprise-level fraud risk framework.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Provide independent risk oversight and challenge to 1st line fraud and operational functions.

  • Coordinate fraud risk incident management, including assuring end-to-end risk remediation.

  • Develop overall policies related to fraud risk management.

  • Conduct risk assessments and control testing / validation.

  • Partner with stakeholders in development of fraud risk metrics/KRIs, risk appetite/tolerance management, and supporting taxonomies and reporting.

  • Fraud risk advisory support in the development of new products, services, and key business projects.

  • Provide strong representation of Fraud Risk in senior governance forums and processes – including risk committees and steering groups for key transformation initiatives.

Key experience and expertise factors:

  • Preferred is at least 15+ years of industry experience in roles such as Fraud Management, Risk Management, Audit, Compliance, or Business / Operational roles with a Fraud / Risk Management component.

  • Expertise in Fraud Risk threats and control approaches across prevention, detection, surveillance, and response.

  • Strong knowledge of Operational Risk Management practices and approaches – including familiarly with best practices related to process/risk/control framework implementation, operational risk assessments, incident management, control validation strategies, as well as the implementation of Key Risk Indicators and reporting to drive effective risk governance with business partners.

  • Prior people management experience, along with the ability to set direction for the team amongst competing priorities and demands.

The candidate should be very familiar with the rapidly evolving fraud risk landscape, both within financial services and across industries. The candidate should be a thought leader for the firm in strategies to combat new and emerging threat schemes, while also maintaining a high degree of focus on day-to-day risk management in the current state.

Also essential is being adept at building business partner relationships and operating at executive levels – including in identifying, escalating, and influencing outcomes on sensitive risk issues. Equally key are excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to distill complex issues into concise and actionable communications and deliver them in executive forums.

The Team

This position is on the senior management team of the Risk organization that supports Fidelity’s Workplace Investing (WI), Retail Brokerage, and Wealth Management business lines, and reports directly to the Head of WI, Wealth and Brokerage Risk. More broadly, the function sits within the Fidelity Risk Group, which includes the major Risk functions from across the enterprise and employs a range of Risk Management programs and capabilities. Central to the Risk Group’s mission is close collaboration with partners throughout the Firm – including Business Leaders, Legal, Compliance, Audit, and Security – in pursuit of our common goal of protecting the Firm, its associates, and customers.

The base salary range for this position is $123,000-$207,000 per year.  

Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors.

Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
