Eka Robotics
Eka Robotics is on a mission to build intelligence for the physical world - robots that are fast, general, and reliable. Our approach, grounded in physics, unlocks superhuman capabilities. We are defining the frontier of robotics research and deployment.

Our team consists of pioneers in robotics and machine learning. We are now hiring to scale our R&D effort. We are looking for hands-on individuals who are excited to help shape the future of robotics.

Role Overview

As a Hardware Test Engineer, you will be the final gatekeeper of quality and reliability for our next-generation robotic systems. You will lead the end-to-end testing lifecycle—from defining strategy and designing custom test fixtures to executing rigorous validation protocols. You will ensure our hardware, ranging from high-precision actuators and grippers to full robotic arms, meets performance requirements and global certification standards (Safety, IP, etc).

Responsibilities

  • Test Strategy & Planning: Develop comprehensive test plans for sub-assemblies (actuators, end-effectors) and integrated robotic solutions to validate human-like dexterity and reliability.

  • Design & Development: Design, build, and maintain custom automated test equipment, jigs, and fixtures using CAD and rapid prototyping to simulate real-world manipulation tasks.

  • Execution & Analysis: Conduct functional, environmental, and stress testing. Analyze results to identify failure modes and work closely with the R&D team on design iterations.

  • Compliance & Certification: Lead technical execution for regulatory certifications, including:

    • Safety: ISO 10218 for collaborative environments.

    • Ingress Protection (IP): Ensuring reliability in challenging industrial environments.

  • Documentation: Create detailed test reports, trace matrices, and certification filings to ensure hardware meets all product requirement documents (PRD).

Qualifications

  • Education: BS in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering.

  • Experience: 3+ years in hardware testing, ideally within robotics, medical devices, or aerospace.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in 3D CAD (OnShape, SolidWorks) for designing test fixtures.

    • Hands-on experience with lab equipment (Load Cells, Environmental Chambers, etc).

    • Basic python scripting for test automation and data analysis.

  • Standards Knowledge: Familiarity with hardware certification processes and working with external labs (UL, ISO, etc.).

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
