This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Milford, MI on a full-time basis

The Role
As part of our GLSE (Global Labs Systems Engineering) team in Milford, MI, you will work on projects that will bring new technologies into the emissions and energy lab. We have a state-of-the-art dynamometer Emission and EV Charging equipment where we test these advanced propulsion technologies. You will be helping install and commission new equipment into the lab.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
  • Assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of the laboratory instrumentation and automated data acquisition systems used to conduct certification emissions and EV range tests.
  • Work with engineering teams to diagnose and correct malfunctions in the operation of laboratory instrumentation, such as communications networks and vehicle-to-network communication as well as older equipment break / fix issues.
  • Apply your knowledge of mechanical systems to assist in the fabrication of experimental setups and custom fixtures.
  • Troubleshooting, maintaining, and upgrading our extensive collection of product electronics, sensors, and other data acquisition hardware.
  • Performing diagnostic tests and repairs on various types of emission testing hardware.
  • Utilizing hand tools and precision measuring instruments to complete assignments.
  • Become certified in rigging, man lift and Hi Lo operation

Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications)
  • Technical course work, training, professional certifications, or 3+ years' experience as automotive technician
  • Working knowledge of vehicle propulsion systems
  • Ability to read schematics, electrical 2d drawings and use bench tools
  • Basic understanding of automotive emissions and EV cycle tests
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Flexibility to support off-shift operations and occasional weekend work
  • Strong computer skills
  • This position requires the ability to legally operate a motor vehicle on a regular basis and successfully complete a Motor Vehicle Report review

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
  • 5+ years of experience working as a mechanical technician in automotive lab environment
  • Experience working in Electrical panels
