We are seeking an energetic candidate for the position of Calibration/Verification Engineer within GM's Vehicle Software and Electronics Engineering group.
The position involves significant in-vehicle, lab, automation and simulation work, along with related analytical and performance verification activities. Calibration engineers engage in cross-functional teams, are expected to handle multiple projects/priorities, and frequently need to balance planned and unplanned work. A typical week includes in-vehicle calibration & testing, lab/bench/analytical activities, and collaboration with algorithm/software and hardware engineers.
Calibration engineers participate in offsite development trips as well as onsite program team vehicle evaluations. The primary location for this role is at the Milford Proving Ground in support of vehicle and propulsion systems (EV, Chassis, Brakes, Engine, Transmission, etc..) development.
The selected candidate will deliver calibrations that ensure features/diagnostic functionality and robustness. Successful candidates will utilize system hardware/software troubleshooting skills to resolve complex issues and complete their standard work. Candidates will analyze large sets of data collected during various driving maneuvers (in simulation, dyno, and vehicle), tune the system response through calibration and identify areas requiring a change in controls.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
- Develop and optimize calibrations to meet performance and timing requirements utilizing Calibration Standard Work
- Conduct calibration reviews to ensure high quality calibrations
- Organize, plan, and coordinate calibration activities with Lead Calibrator and Diagnostic Strategist
- Support identification of requirements for resources to develop calibrations
- Diagnose and correct vehicle, system, and controls deficiencies
- Support resolution of vehicle, plant, lab, or customer issues
- Utilize analytical tools to develop & verify calibrations
- Develop, use, and update calibration procedures
- Participate in controls groups and support development of algorithms
- Participate in development trips and related test activities
- Supporting development and testing of new vehicle features/functions, translating requirements into test cases
- Evaluating engineering changes and their impact on verification testing
- Conducting peer reviews for test plans with consideration of hardware, software and architecture across the portfolio
- Ensure test reports are delivered by Vehicle Documentation Complete (VDC) per program
- Identifying automation virtualization opportunities and leading their implementation
- Supporting development vehicle fleet with troubleshooting and data collection
- Root cause analysis and documentation for issues encountered during verification testing and documentation via the Problem Resolution Tracking System (PRTS)
- Adhering to all safety precautions and requirements, and treating safety as the top priority during all work activities
Required Qualifications:
- Pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in one of the following areas: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related degree
- Must be graduating between Dec 2025 - June 2026
- Able to work fulltime, 40 hours per week
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with propulsion systems, software development, controls systems
- Experience working with vehicles and integration issues
- Experience with data acquisition and analysis
- Experience with MATLAB
- Experience with data acquisition and analysis
- Technical writing ability to create written engineering evaluation reports
- Experience with test automation (Python, Autobot etc.)
- Formula SAE, Ecocar, or other Automotive related experience/clubs
