Position Summary
Vertex is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join our team as the Director, Global Commercial Strategy – Type 1 Diabetes (T1D).
In this role, you will play a critical role in shaping and executing the global commercial strategy for our T1D portfolio. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful commercialization of innovative therapies that address the unmet needs of patients with T1D.
This role requires a strong background in global strategic marketing, US market experience, and expertise in market development for breakthrough therapies. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to develop and implement patient-centric strategies in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development and execution of the global commercial strategy for Vertex’s T1D portfolio, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and market needs.
- Conduct market research and analysis to identify opportunities, challenges, and trends in the T1D therapeutic area.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, medical affairs, regulatory, and market access, to align commercial strategies with clinical development plans.
- Contribute to the development of launch plans, including market segmentation, positioning, pricing, and promotional strategies.
- Build and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, patient advocacy groups, and industry partners.
- Provide input and support to regional and local commercial teams to ensure successful execution of global strategies, with a particular focus on the US market.
- Monitor and assess the performance of the T1D portfolio, providing actionable insights and recommendations for optimization.
- Represent the commercial team in cross-functional meetings and provide strategic input to support decision-making.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Life Sciences, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or healthcare industry, with at least 3 years in a strategic marketing or commercial role.
- Experience in a global strategic marketing function, with a demonstrated ability to contribute to strategies across multiple geographies.
- Direct experience in the US market, including a strong understanding of its unique dynamics, stakeholders, and regulatory environment.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong experience in market development for breakthrough therapies, with a focus on innovative and patient-centered approaches.
- Ability to leverage patient-driven insights to inform target product profile (TPP) development, market development strategies, segmentation, messaging, and the effective use of digital tools.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams and influence key stakeholders.
- Experience in supporting product launch planning and execution on a global or regional scale.
- Strong business acumen and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Pay Range:
$196,000 - $294,000Disclosure Statement:
The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
